me and my gf had a baby boy 6yrs ago his name is peyton purdy. he took her last name because when she delivered the baby my gf's mom said he would not take my last name until we got married. well now we are getting married and my gf wants to keep peyton's last name purdy. i checked with a aty and she told me that if my gf (april) was to die then peyton wld go to his grand father & grandmother (april's mom &dad) . my name is not on the birth cirt. i need his name changed so if she isn't willing to change should i get married.
p.s. I provide for my son i pay the bills & care for my son very much and I believe peyton should carry on my name .

I want to have a really big wedding ceremony. The church I have is huge. I want everyone I know to be there. However, I want to have a smaller reception. Is this rude to invite people to the wedding, but not the reception? (evening wedding -- 6:30pm) If not, how do I word the invitation, so that they know they are not invited to the reception?

At my workplace I have colleague who will get married next year. She is arranging it ONE year in advance, talking on and on and on about preparations, this cake, that music. Does it really take one year in average? Why people have to have it so perfect, so expensive. It seems like to much drama for 1 day, it shouldn't be "the most important day", but lovely, relaxed, OK kind of day.

I live in California and recently got engaged. My fiance wants a prenup, which I have known of all along. He says that we can't even set a date for the wedding until the prenup is signed. Is this true? I thought that he just can't push it on me the day before the wedding.

I keep finding recommendations to drape tulle and christmas lights from the center of a shabby reception hall out to the edges of the room in order to make it look more elegant. The problem is that I have no idea how to do this! What techniques do people usually use? Is there a best method for not damaging the ceiling? Help is VERY greatly appreciated !

Seriously. My mother is mean and nasty, very impatient and we do not agree on anything. She has a nasty response for everything. She is condesending and confrontational. I find myself yes-ing her to death just to keep the peace. But I am tired of walking on eggshells. One major issue is that her and my dad are bankrolling everything. I'm in grad school and I don't have any money. Should I suck it up until after my wedding, or should I say something and run the risk of not having the wedding of the year?

With the various complex rules concerning getting married in a church - what is premitted for myself and my girlfriend.

She has never been married before. I have been married but I am now widowed but my late wife was a divorcee (I was her third marriage and (she said) her best).

In summary, girlfriend never been married, I been married once to a divorcee and I am now widowed.

(I'm also curious to know if I could be married in a catholic church, just found out recently I was christened a catholic and so I'm looking at that part of my religion.)

Good thing I could edit this, couple of embarrassing mistakes in the first draft. :-)

My mother/monster in law to be is making a huge fuss becasue none of my fiance's sisters are apart of my bridal party. The ages are (12, 14, and 15). I'm not close with any of his sisters AND I feel they are too old to be flower girls and too old to be bridesmaids. Am I being "rude", "Wrong", or "messed up" for not inviting his sisiters to be apart of the bridal party?

My fiance and I will get married soon. We do not want to spend much money, so we will go to the JP. But, she would like to have some wedding pics of her in several different gowns. Are there studios here that does this (shes from Asia), and should I do some "specific" searches to find such places? I've looked at several different photo studio sites, but none says anything about them having different gowns for the brides to take pics in.

Can anyone offer any suggestions?

My fiance and I are in a difficult situation. We've talked about getting married, but then we found out that I am pregnant. We scooted the date up to Nov. 11th instead of sometime in June. His mom found out through reading his myspace messages that we set the date. The day after, we were on our way to go tell them and she called all upset that she had to find out that way. I don't think she should have been snooping around his stuff and that she is overreacting since we just barely set the date the day before she got upset. Now she is pouting about me taking away her son.

Who out there is not going for the whole traditional, elegant wedding?
And who doesn't care about an expensive diamond ring?

It seems that every female out there wants a HUGE WEDDING.
They would start planning it even at 12 years old.

I was never one of those girls.
I could care less about my wedding.
All I want is a nice dress because I'm just not a dress girl. I just want one for my wedding.

I even hear people complaining about how much work it is to plan a wedding and how it has to be PERFECT or they'll just break down in tears. I mean, come on. It's only for a few hours. LOL.

Sometimes I just feel like having a Justice of the Peace wedding. But I atleast want my parents there. So a tiny a.s.s. wedding will do.

And about the ring... I don't care about jewelry either. I don't even trust myself with expensive crap. Because I'm pretty rough hehe.

From what people say, my boyfriend has it pretty good.

She is super jelous that I got engaged before her since she has been with her bf longer.... keep in mind he just got legally divorced.
Well, I just found out that she is DEMANDING a ring by christmas time or she is leaving. OK, she doesn't have any where to go or live, if she leaves him. She can't support herself and lives in his house pays a small fee to help with the morgage. Both our birthday are in Feb and we are both turning 30. She keeps asking me to fly to somewhere for a event. I told her I don't have vacation time or money since I am paying for the wedding myself.
She is getting really mad at me and freaken out that it's HER 30th birthday. Mind you, mine is two week after hers!
When I tell her to calm down or she being crazy, she gets mad and accuses me of not caring, because I got what I want.... (the ring). Which is untrue.
What do I do?
Just keep my mouth shut? I guess if someone is going to shoot themselves in the foot- can you stop them??
