Hooking up, as defined by UrbanDictionary.com, suggests kissing someone else or sleeping together. In general, this term has branched into an array of meanings, from kissing in the park to full on sex. But the line, especially in high school, has to be drawn. But where?
At parties, the most common type of hook up occurs—no string attached. With a night of fun, the couple, or group, returns to life and never speaks of anything ever again. Ever. The deed has bee done and the session is complete. Many times hooking up goes hand in hand with intoxication and other illegal practices.
The other common type of hooking up involves a no-strings attached relationship. The two involved agree on being “friends with benefits” and they do not become entangled in a formal relationship, only get with each other on occasion to satisfy their physical needs. For the most part, they are a couple but not official. For the benefit of other students, it’s best to think of them in a “common-law relationship
