Supposing you loved someone so much that you don't know if you could even breathe without them? Or even if you would want to. And you know that they love you too.

And assume that you are aware of your having some very serious character flaws at the core of your being that are making them unhappy, and in the long term could seriously damage their lives.

Would you sacrifice your happiness so that they could move on, hard as it would be for them, and terrible as it would be for you, and then stand a better chance of having a better life without you?

Are these serious character flaws so deeply ingrained that they cannot be eliminated or at least controlled to a tolerable degree for the sake of what sounds like the true love of your life?

They say that recognizing a problem (or in this case a flaw) is being half way to solving the problem.

What flaws at the 'core of your being' could you have that cannot be overcome? There is no greater motivator in life than true love. If your choice isn't to rid yourself of these flaws rather than lose this person, it's likely the love you think you feel is not so strong after all.

If you have some serious character flaws, why don't you work on fixing them??? And yes, if your character is going to lead to her lack of happiness, then I'd let her go.

sounds like you are afraid to commit and are playing the martyr to cover it. For God's sake, tell the other person. It's their choice to accept it or not. This is not your call
