Friends - October 2007

For this question, you kind of need all the details, so I’m going to start at the beginning, 3 years ago and work progressively toward today, giving you the intricate details of every day…. Okay, no i’m not. It does start three years ago however and I tend to drag on a little so try and be patient.
When I was in grade 6, I was friends with this group of girls. We were close; there was about seven of us. One of the girls was going out with a guy named Brandon. Now there was this other ‘group’, (we weren’t as cliquish as i’m making this sound) one of the girls was named Meghan and we all hated her because she wanted Brandon. Problem was Brandon wanted her too. Anyway, we didn’t know that. So Brandon and me made this plan, I was going to call Meghan and tell her Brandon and Rebecca broke up and he wanted to go out with her. When she said yes, Brandon was going to call her and tell her off for being such a mean friend to Rebecca. Rebecca knew about this but wasn’t happy about it. more..

my friend can be really rude sometimes, and I don't even think she realizes it. Whenever I tell her that she's being rude, she gets mad at ME and I'm always the bad one. She's extremely stubborn, for example, a few days ago she promised me that she'd come with my to a club after school, and right when we were leaving our last class and walking to the room that it takes place, she changed her mind and just left me alone without saying anything, but eventually came back, but was really mad at me and said that I "owed her a lot". She's also very controlling! I feel like I always have to do what she wants, or I'm on my own, and whenever I ask her to do a favour for me I'm also on my own. I want her to realize that she's not being a good friend, but without her losing her temper. I have another best friend who I barely ever see anymore. I'm trying to make friends, but I'm really shy.. is there any way I can change her?

I broke up with my live in boyfriend of almost three years. He and I share mutual friends. Now my good girlfriends that he was friends with as well are hanging out alot. One even went on a double date with him and his new chick. I was really hurt and felt betrayed. A few have also stayed over at his house(they did this before when we were dating) and two even slept in our old bed with him. What do you think?

I have a friend who is really in a bad way. She doesn't mean to but is taking out her troubles on me. She needs a drive to and from work every day and I'm happy to help her. But she's always late, treats me like **** because SHE's late and spends the rest of the time we're together either ignoring me or treating me like I'm an idiot not worthy of her time. I love her like family and I know she doesn't mean any of this but right now I'm so pissed off I could walk away and never see her again. Does anyone have friends like this? How do you deal with it?

I have alot of things going on in my mind. Many things disturbing to others. ( I won't go into details for fear of offending someone. ) I need a gal-friend to talk to. Someone who shares similar intrests or problems. Trust me when I say, it's pretty intense...sexually. So if you are not comfortable bearing your sexual side, then don't bother. I just need to get some things, weird interests, and fantasies off my chest. My husband would never understand, as close as we are and as much as I love him, this would probably make him look at me differently and that is the last thing I want. If any woman out there is dealing with the same thing and just wants a buddy, let me know. It's hard to tell your closest friends things and never know what they really think of you, or if they are telling anyone else. Talking to someone over the internet, without ever worrying about running into them on the street is much easier. If you are a woman, over 18, and need a friend, I'm ready if you are!

When I was younger I pretty much went through 13 years of hell during my school years (K-12). 95% of the kids in school treated me like crap or just wouldn't even talk to me. Now that I've been graduated for a while I sometimes run into people that I went to school with. When they find out who I am they act like we're good friends or something. My general motto is "If you wouldn't talk to me then, I won't talk to you now." How many of you forgive the little kids and think that they grew out of it?
(I think that people don't change, they just learn to hide their more undesirable traits, but they're still there.)

sometimes i feel alone, i keep everything to myself, simply i have my own kingdom inside myself, i like to much too have a true friend to tell him all what i feel. sometimes i open my mouth to talk then i change my mind.even my mother i do not tell her everything , and about my friends i make my best to help them and listen to them and i show them my good feelings towards them , but i did not have a one that can listen to me , i always think that nobody would like to listen to me.you know, even the girl that i liked in universty i did not be brave to tell her that ,smiply i kept that to myself!! please anybody can tell me what to do?

I have been best friends with this girl for ten years. About a year ago her and her husband got into heroin. This past summer they hit rock bottom, they sold all their stuff for the drug, even the kids x-box and gameboy! Eventually social services came and took their kids away and it seemed to me that she didn't even give a crap! She even changed her myspace page from being "proud parent" to "love kids, but they're not for me" !

I don't want anything to do with her anymore, i have two kids of my own and we don't need to be a part of that messed up world. She thinks i'm a b**ch because i won't talk to her anymore. Do you think i'm wrong to not talk to her?She was in rehab and she says she is clean for two months now. but i can't get the image out of my head when i let my 7year old son stay at her place with her son for 3days last summer and when i went to pick him up they were running in and out of the house like nuts and she was locked in her bedroom(i know now what she was doing)

She is a 35 year old single mom (I'm 22), that I met 2 weeks ago because she was helping me paint a (family)friends apartment. We did some painting, but mostly just talked and got to know eachother alittle. (skip ahead-she came over once, I didn't make a move.) She came over on Monday (second time) and we were having good conversation, until she started talking about having SEX w/ a 20 yr old in Mexico, and how she is sleeping wiith a 21 yr old and a 23 year old right now.( i bet she has more) Well, I then asked her if i could kiss her and she said NO, because she doesn't want to add more drama too her situation. I have a job and I design book covers for people... however, there is this one woman that emails me and calls me several times a day about this one cover that i designed for her LAST YEAR!!! and now she is dealing with a different printer and she wants me to totally change the cover & not pay me anything. She told me she is almost done writing another book that she is going to send to me & have me proof read it, she wants me to go to this other site and get pics of some books to put on the back cover of this book that I was already paid to do .... blah, blah... I can't deal with this anymore.
The biggest problem is that this woman WAS a family friend... now she is becoming one of my biggest nightmares! She won't leave me alone, she won't pay me, I will tell her I can't do something and she gives me the phone number & email for her printer so they can talk me through the things step- by -step.

Why can't SHE deal with her own printer?!?

I am an american boy who is hopelessly in love with a friend that is an Asian Indian girl who was raised here(US) at a young age. She has strict parents and brothers. They won't allow her to date nor let her be seen with a boy. We are both in our early 20s, and have known each other for a year now. We are very close friends and coworkers. We have this "secret friendship" that her family members don't know about nor do our coworkers. She won't talk to me on the phone at home, we IM each other almot every night and text each other. I told her my feelings a couple of months ago and told me she doesn't feel the same way, but we still continue to be close friends. We once talked about the issue of marriage in her culture, which is arranged marriage. She told me she would consider marrying a friend(she doesn't have other friends). Hello, my friend lost her job because she was a collections associate and some clients had said they had set up payments when they didn't want them. Some they did authorize, and some they did not. She was totally coperative and the boss told her that he hated to do it, and that he is glad she is fully coperating but he does have to report it to one place for bad activity. What will happen to her??She was fully cooperative and helped in anyway...and it was only going on for a matter of weeks and some weren't her fault. Please do not be rude, she is very scared and sorry for what she has done...he said they may just put her on a list to not be able to work at a bank anymore. Anyone with advice would be greatly appreciated!!! =)

This is the strangest thing.

There's an office "clique" and I finally realized that she is actually embarassed of me at work and doesn't want anyone to know we're friends. I'm not normal in that I'm a divorced single mother of two and I'm the black sheep at work. So the clique generally turns their back on me because I don't have money to spend like they do.They never invite me to their group lunches, always dump the crappy odd jobs on me to handle and are only nice when they need something.

I expect it from the cliques, but not from her. Do I confront her or just start keeping her at arms legnth? She's a step above me on the corporate ladder and I don't want to create any waves....

My friend has been dating this guy that none of us like. She fights with him a lot, but I believe for the most part she is happy. And honestly, that's all that matters - that she is happy and in love. But he uses disgusting language towards her (c-word synonym for female anatomy) and generally he is anti-social when hanging out with everyone. He does not like her friends (us) and we don't like him, even though we have tried very hard to accomodate him and get to know him. He has a shady past and we all feel should could honestly do MUCH better. It's putting a strain on everyone. What do you do if your friend is dating someone so clearly wrong for them and being supportive isn't working?

i am a seventeen year old girl.. who have a male bestfriend @ my age. he was sexually abused by a man from the internet from the age of 12-15. he told me and our other bestfriend this autumn. we tried dialing helping numers (dont know the english word for it, im from europe) and we arranged a meeting with a psychologist for him. but he backed out. we have tried to make him tell what happened to him to his parents, but he refuses to do so. he cuts himself and is concidering suicide. he is also very depressed. our other bestfriend tells me we should go directly to his parents and tell them everything, but i'm not sure that's the right thing to do...? what do you guys think we should do
