Family - December 2007

My son is getting married soon to a wonderful gal whom we love like a daughter. Her family on the other hand has a strange problem with ours. They think we are TOO TALL. They are on the short side with her father being 5'6" and her mother is 5'2". She is 5'4". My son is 6'1 as is his Dad and brother and I am 5'9". I think that this is a very strange thing to have an issue about. When ever we come together as a family to have a supper or something at my son and his girlfriend's home, they go on and on about how tall our family is. It is annoying and to us, shouldn't make any difference. What is going on here? Her father is really upset about our height.

My family has recently gotten back in touch with my uncle and his cruel wife. I am happy for my family bc I know these past few years have been difficult wo my uncle being there. But personally I'd rather have nothing to do with either one of them. They were very abusive towards me as a child (they were my primary gurdains for a few years as a child) Therefore, I'd like to avoid them as much as possible. They have invited me to a dinner party they are throwing next week and despite the fact that I gave them my word that I'd be there no matter what, I don't. Am I wrong for not going? Also, my mother keeps stating that they're the only family I have and I should try my best to forget the past. Is she right or am I justified with not wanting them in my life? My uncle isn't so bad. It's just that he does whatever my aunt tells him to do so I'm not sure if I should forgive him or not.

My fiance and I are getting married next Aug. I'm 23 and he's 29. He already has a 10yr old son who will be 11 in 2 weeks. He has joint custody of his son and is battling for full custody. We currently live together and I wanted to have a baby last year but he convinced me to wait until we are married. I know that we can afford to have a child but since he proposed this year, I agree that we should wait. The problem is that lately he's been bugging me to have a baby. This coincides with the fact that his dad died not even 2 weeks ago. It was really unexpected--he was only 61. Last year my grandfather died of cancer close to the same time. I remember feeling empty and sad and I said I wanted a baby too. I know that my fiance has expressed his preference to have more kids before he turns 30 in the past, but I can't help but think he's just trying to replace his dad. I still really want to have a baby but it is more practical to wait. My fiance is normally the level-headed one. Help!

my aunt wont leave my bedroom she sleeps in my room with me everyday and some nights like on weekends and fridays i like to stay up late sometimes and and watch videos or look at pics of Bill Kaulitz, Ville Valo, or Jonne aaron and i feel embarrassed looking at them in front of her like i know she goes to sleep but i know she really isnt sleeping but watching me so ya how can i stop her from sleeping in my bedroom i need some privacy at night. If i tell her that i want privacy i will sound rude and don't want to her hurt her feelings also she will think i do and look at naughty stuff in my bedroom ... she is gonnna be here for 3 months.

Well,my brother is 18,and my sister is 14.Im obviously the youngest.I don't really like my brother because he just annoys me,gets on my nerves,and is just mean/rude.He'd do anything to kill me.My sister has her nice days and bad days,but shes usually in the middle.And my parents are cruel sometimes,but their my parents,i love em.It's just they can get on my last nerves.What can i tell my whole family without saying anything mean?

My mother, over the years, has taken many things from me. You might say that she is an Indian giver. She even gave my bedroom suit away to my cousin once that she gave me as a hand me down I might add. Over a year or 2 ago I bought her everything you need to learn Spanish. 8 CDs were included. She had only listened to the first one and there is not a scratch on it. All 3 books look brand new. I offered to give it all to a woman I've known for a long time, who loves Spanish, because her husband speaks it well as a second language. When I told her my plans she hid everything. And will not compromise. Am I in the wrong here?

my dad has been bedridden for 7 years now from a stroke. in total he has had 4 large strokes and many many small strokes.
at this point he has lost control of the muscle that moves the flap over his path to his lungs when he eats. so food or drink could go in his lungs and he would get very sick. more than likely if it happens at our home we live 10 miles out from the hospital and he may not make it back. the other opition is to install a feeding tube. he will live longer this way with less chance of death. my question is simply this if i wanted him to go to a better place and my mom have some peace. would it be wrong for me to say no feeding tube or would that be a very bad way to go?

why is it that i can't have a fun teenage life? My mom woulden't let do anything on my own like: Hang with my friends, go out at night on the weekend, go to the movies, and go take a ride on a bus around miami. AND IM FUC*ING 14 YEARS OLD! All i do at home is use the computer, watch t.v, play video games, be depressed, and deal with my dumba*s brother of mine. Im always the lame and uncool one so for that screw my family.

i am seventeen years old,i take care of my little four year old twins every single day, i put up with all their ****, i do ALL my chores, I clean and stay up late trying to get all my chores done and yet in all of that i have nearly straight As.My other sister on the other hand gets horrible rotten grades and does none of her chores and yet she is treated better than me.
What the hell do i gotta do to be taken seriously around here???

When they offered for me and my boyfiend to stay with them it acually sounded like they were trying to help, but now they smoke in the house, and party at least 3 times a week till 4 or 5 in the morning... im completely broke and at 8 monthes nobody wants to hire me, and i can't get any help from the state untill im 9 monthes, my boyfriend is working kinda sorta, and he gives them all the money he has, which just keeps us living with them, and everyday it gets worse and we just keep going further in debt with his family, im very thankful that they let us stay for as long as they have but i just can't take it anymore. please help... i've tried everything that i can think of :(

My father and I aren't that close...so I try and call him to spend some time together but he is so wrapped up in his other family that he doesnt have time for me or my sisters. I'm so tired of trying but he is my dad, the only one I have. I have tried to talk to him but he is who he is. Any suggestions?

He's 8 and she's 6. Now I think it's weird cause I've seen him playing with his sister slapping her on the bottom and stuff like that, also they both sleep in their underwear. (I'm not their Dad, but I live with their Mom). Also when we mentioned that he should sleep in his own bed he 'flipped out' went into tears and screaming and what not!

I wish I could explain more, but I just get a weird feeling about it and I don't know how to broach the subject to their mother.

im 24, my little sister, 12, is getting out of hand. my parents provide her with the best homelife possible. she has a cellphone, lots of friends, things that i could only have dreamed of when i was 12. but for some reason she feels life at home is horrible. when she disrespects my parents with certain things she says, they ground her by taking her phone away or wont let her go to certain events, as i think they rightfully should. they're raising her the same way they raised me and my other sister and we both turned out to be very fine respectable adults. but now my little sister feels like she would rather live somewhere else, threatens to talk to counselors at school and tell them how bad life is at home so they can take her away, and has written down that she would rather die than be around my mom. she is making my mom cry. ive never heard my mom cry for anything. and her grades are starting to slip and thinks we expect her to be perfect. any advice? please help. please

I,ve been grounded for something so minor .They have said I can go to a friends house tho to study for end of term exam,friends dads a teacher my friends persuaded me to go to this guys house to listen to his band so i'll give them her number Whats the chance I get away with it.I dont think they no her dad that well they.d ring.Is it worth the risk?

I know why its wrong in this life time.
But during when civilzations were forming such as Egypt, the son would marry the half sister in the King's favour. and so forth.
And Greece would marry their children togeter as well.
Plus there was lots of cheating and gay's then, but we probably didnt know, cause it all took off in closed doors.
But it wasnt looked as bad then. Why?

to keep a long story shrt, I live with my mom and fiance...recently my sister moved back home with her, her BF and her baby..my fiance is never home (works a lot) I have 2 jobs, my sister and her bf party all the time and my mom watches their kid 24/7. I always help mom out with the bills, cleanin ect...while they help with nothing. I have 2 jobs and when i get home all my mom does is BIT** at me about the mess around the house, im lazy...im this im that...meanwhile shes holdin my nephew in one arm cleanin up my sisters dinner from the night b4...WTF is THIS!! She never asks ne one else for money or help around the house but me and it causes an argument. I dont mind helping, especially with money, but I CANT STAND her nitpicking at me about stupid SH$T...ANY SUGGESTIONS!!!

Mine were the teenage years. Social, mental and emotional isolation - you are neither a kid nor an adult. You have to start being independent and that pressures you to study and get good grades. A lot of family and relationship problems.

Because today my probation officer came to my school and was talking to me and shes like "Are you in counciling?" and im like "uh no!?" and shes like "well the only way you'll get off probation is if you start going to counciling and if the judge sees your not doing what your supposed to, he'll put you behind bars" and im like oh sh!t!! I dont wanna go to counciling it wastes my Saturdays and my last counciler i was sent to shared my info.. so yea do you have to goto counciling when your on probation?
