The father of my two kids has not paid child support in a very long time. I recently came across a credit card of his, should I use this to buy the kids some presents for their upcoming birthday?

He has decided that since he's almost 20, I can't tell him what to do or anything. However, he sitll lives at home, is in the middle of a custody battle with his 19 year old ex girlfriend - my grandson is 16 months old. They have 50/50 custody now. My son LIES the worst in the world to me. I told him to pick his friends or his family (he & I live alone but I have a large family around). He told me he would not see this one particular person any longer but I find out he did the next day. He's been out of a job for 3 weeks and still hasn't found one.

When he is to be out looking for a job (and he swears he is) I find out he's running with bad influences.

I took the house keys away from him & told him to find another place to live if he couldn't live by my rules but he makes me feel guilty. What do I do?

Was does everyone think of a mother who deserts her baby. As I mentioned in a previous question I became a dad when I was 13 and last year my daughter mother left her with me and moved 500 miles away to her grandmothers. I now have legal custody and we live alone ( I fell out with my mother). I am now 17 and my daughter is 3. But I still do not understand how any mother could leave her child and never return for a visit. My little girl only recently stopped asking for her mother. What is everyones opinion on a deserting mother?

I am under so much stress because we are in so much trouble with our mortgage. we are at the point of losing our house. my wife does not know how bad it is, we have a 5 month old son and we have put so much money into our house, this is the last thing we could lose. instead of paying the mortgage i have paid our credit debts. and then made sure we have enough money left to make sure we have enough money to make sure we can pay for nappies and food for our son. im at my witts end because i feel that whatever i have done im still not going to win. make sure my son is looked after and not pay mortgage or pay mortgage and not have money for his food and stuff. help needed

When she scolds our kids (8 years old and 3 years old), it takes a litany of sermons to prove her point. Yes, maybe she has a point. But in explaining it, it takes her forever to point it out, often times moving to other issues. Is this normal for women her age? She is 41. I remember my mother to talk as much.

Ok my mom and dad are going away next weekend for some special Valentines mommy and daddy time. His mom and her fiance are doing the same but they aren't married yet so I'm not sure what they plan to do lol lol. I have fifty to spend and with that I could have about 5 left to buy him a nice Valentines day card. Ok he and I will be well supervised by grandparents and we receive constant DAILY!! reminders that we are too young for intimacy (the reminders got more frequent after one of my 13 yr old girlfriends got pregnant wonder why lol lol). Anyway I got worried about what they might think and didnt buy the gifts yet because I'm worried that they may think I got bubble bath for him and I in spite of the fact that a lot of grandparents will be in the picture next weekend. I'm worried they might FREAK OUT and order us to stay apart until they come home. If not bubble bath what else for 50 dollars max.

ok well i'm getting my license in like 2 days and my parents have been hinting around that they are getting me a car... ok well before all this hinting around and junk, they flat out told me i wasn't getting a car, so my hopes were like on zero, but after hearing all the talk about cars, they've like shot through the roof, well tonight they're like...yeah we don't have the money for a car...so i'm like on this roller coaster... and i flat out told my mom that I'm not getting a job unless i can drive myself, which i dont think is too unreasonable, because i believe that a major part of getting a job is the freedom of driving yourself there... she thinks I'm totally crazy, because the money i could make having a job could EVENTUALLY get me a car....we are totally not in any form of agreement...what do you think???

I am doing some research on child support and I have some questions? Are there REALLY any fairness to the way courts handle these situations. It's cut and dry when you have a true "deadbeat dad" who doesn't take any responsibility, but what about those parents who are doing their part, making their payments, keeping in contact with their kids and the courts treat them like they don't exist. And the parent who has custody takes advantage of that. The courts are not set up to handle these types of situations and the children suffer even more as a result. Both parents need to be thouroughly checked out before too many decisions are made in a case. The child needs both parents and if one parent is using the system they need to go to jail. If the system is set up for the benefit of the children then money should not be the driving force behind determinations. These children don't know anything other than the parents that love them. It's getting worse as the years go by. Laws need to change.
