Family - November 2006

Short story - my mom & dad just recently split 6 months ago after being married for 40 years. She is a very depressed, negative woman. Nothing you do or say is right and if you try to confront her you are wrong. She drinks all day and is on several meds, including pain killers. She smokes more cigarettes than and outlet can hold. I have tried to get her to pine rest to get some mental stabillity but she refuses. She constantly calls me complaining about my father and how horrible her life it. It's a pity party for her every day. I cannot take it anymore. I have a husband and a 1 year old that needs me. If you can't do something for her it's "oh I'll do it myself". In a sad, depressed tone. She had a steel rod put in her foot and has a bad knee. So she can't do much, so she says. I've tried everything from getting her somewhere to calling her doctor for help. I can't handle this and I need some direction on what I should do with her. It's always easy to say but she still is my mother...

He is overseas with the Army right now. A few things have happened that I find a bit annoying. (I.E. knocking on the door leading to my kitchen instead of my front door), trying to come in the apartment when I was on vacation to turn the light off over the stove without calling me first to see if I minded. (I always leave a small light on so I do not come home to a dark house.) We want to set boundaries early on without offending her, as she is family. However, we do pay rent and have certain expectations of privacy, etc...Any suggestions?

I know how it sounds, but he is driving my crazy. My husband and I have had custody of his son since 2002 when he was almost 6. He has not seen his biological mother since spring 2003. He is 10 now and has absolutely no respect for me. He is bringing out the worst in me by lying, cheating and beating up on my other two kids (younger and girls). The other night when I caught him in yet another lie, I was so angry with him that I had to leave the room before I seriously hurt him. I love him dearly but I am afraid that one of these days I may snap and hurt him and I cannot lose all three of my children because he is driving me crazy. Is it wrong that I want to send him to his mother's for awhile (not forever)?

Her dad technically has custodial custody, hes doing a great job hes got her in school, paying for daycare and works 2 jobs...while I do nothing.. WHere I live there are no job, my parents cant afford to help me and I cant get a job really inless I get a car and I cant get a car inless I get a job! I feel like I am neglecting my daughters needs when she comes to see me every other weekend! I dont know what to do anymore.. I am walkin down a hard road.. Severe my rights with visitation or DO whatever have to to move and get a job so I can fight for her in court when our divorce rolls around! *Note- I am not a mean or violent person.. I like to settle things as easy as possible but with less pain a possible*

I've never met my real dad and it's been 35 years now. I have used geanology search and ancestory search. I've also used the white pages. Does anyone know of any free sites I can use that would help me out? I've been searching since I was 18 and so far now luck. The problem is he is a Smith. My luck.
Any Ideas please feel free to let me know.

I have a court order that says the father has the children for half of the school holidays. I have had problems as I think contact should be from either Saturday morning or Monday morning as this is the first day they don't go to school. My X is saying it is it friday after school finishes.

I am 13 my little sister is 9 and is already taller than me. I am 5'3" and she is 5'4". Both of our parents are short (mom is 5'0" and dad is 5'5"). She has recently started growing at a rate of about 1 inch a month. She also has bigger feet than I do. I wear a size 4 in boys and she wears a size 7 1\2 in womens. I can't help but feel that before long I will only be as tall as her belly. She will wear our moms highest heels which have a 4 inch heel around me. Her favorite thing to do is to slouch and walk into a room carrying moms shoes to where I can't see them and say that I have grown and when I look I do look taller but then she turns away and puts on moms high heels and then turns and stretches so that I can watch her appear to grow taller and then she says that I will be her little brother for the rest of our lives. In moms shoes she is about 5'8" and I only come up to her nose.

ok im 14 and i dont want to be like my mom she got married at 14 then she had a kid at 16 then 17 and i want to have a kid at 17 or 18 b/c im tired of waiting and i want to be young for my kid but should i slow down but thats going to be hard for me and i do need help but i cant go to my parents and my friends are like its ur like but idk ..........

My mother and I, all we do is FIGHT we can not get along I can't stand being around her for a long period of time..she frustrates me and always yells at me. I am 18 years old and she acts like i'm a kid and she never lets me go explore and learn new things. I used to live with my dad untill he moved out of my grandparents house were we used to live. then in summer i was living with my mom at her house and she lived right down the street from our couzin so i did stay there too. then at the end of the summer she put me back at my grandparents house to live there. Now im here so then they moved to florida but my dad had already moved to florida b4 me and then my grandparents and i moved to florida too. Now i dont now wut to do like should i move back to NJ with my mom and my couzins and not see my dad for like every once or twice a year but still see my mom like every day or stay and only see my mom like twice or three times a year and summer time and still only see my dad like once a month but my grandparents are like depriving me from seeing my mom anyway so i dont know wut i should do like either move back or stay?

A lot of people have dogs or cats but don't appreciate them. My step sister has a dog and just feeds and waters him, thats it. The only times he's had a bath in his whole life was when I washed him while I visited once. I just want to know if some people act the same way she does.

I HAVE BEEN OUT ON MY OWN SINCE I WAS 18 TAKING CARE OF MY FAMILY AND DIDNT ASK FOR ANY HELP SIMPLY BECAUSE I DO KNOW THAT THERE IS A FAMILY OUT HERE THAT NEED MORE HELP THAN I. i used to be daddy's little gurl. now we dont talk anymore like that. i dont like it, but he's hardly at home and im tired of it. i wanna be that gurl who used to hide in the cupboards so he can find me and even in the most impossible places. i miss doing that. i miss him. he needs to start spending more time with his family. even my brothers dont do anything with him. he's like married to his job. i hate it. need advice on how to deal with it or im never gonna forgive him.

my sister is 23 she is a single mother of a mixed child and for the last year she has went from bad to worse. She at first was just being selfish and only caring about herself and she always left her child with our parents and went out to parties and hung out with her friends then he began to date another man and let him move in with her and started taking her son around him and having her son call him daddy. well to top this all of the guy she started dating is a big drug dealer. about 3 mounths ago they both (my sister and her bf) got arrested for drugs and my parents keep the baby while she was in jail then when she got out ( a day later) my parents gave the baby back. She is starting to do better with the baby but she has now gone and married her bf while he was in jail. My question is how can i help her when she will not let me help. i tried talking and telling her this is not right and that her now husban is no good for her but she wont listen help how do i talk to my sister??

how do i tell my best friend of 6 years i like him, it isnt that easy ive tried to come out and say it but i know he thinks of me as a sister and i dont want to mess it up between us as friends i dont want to get that weird feeling when we're around each other, right now i can go over to his house and spend the night with him by ourselfs and our parents know we're responsible enough and hes 16 im 15 we go EVERYWERE together he even goes to my dds to stay with me over the weekends and i REALLY dont want to mess that up

Nancy Grace has a story on right now about a mother arresting for microwaving her 3 week old daughter???? Just when I thought I have seen it all. WTF?? Does anyone know anything about this?? Christmas break is coming up. My husband is currently stationed in Afghanistan, so I've been home alone (Colorado) with my pets since last January. My grandparents want me to fly to Alaska on December 16th and stay my entire vacation, which is an entire month. However, my husband has two weeks leave in January and we're meeting in Wisconsin where my mom and his family is located. Somehow, he's become the enemy to my grandparents and has ruined Christmas because he wants to see his mom and wants me to go to Wisconsin. I suggested that my grandparents come visit me for the holidays since they don't have pets, but they say they can't leave the house in winter. I then suggest flying from Anchorage to Chicago, but then my grandparents go on a tirade about it's so dangerous to fly or too dangerous for me to drive to the airport. I really don't know what to do without being a "bad" person. My grandparents are the ones that raised me, so I have divded loyalties. Any advice?

I've never met my dad's daughter, she probably doesn't even know that she has other sister's and brother's. I'm now 23 and i would like to talk to her. I have her ss# and her mom's ss#. Every website i go, to you have to pay money to get the information that you want. I don't have much $ so i can't afford it. i guess what i'm asking is how do i find my sister without using money?

Early this morning my husband dropped me and my friend Jessica (we are both 19) off at my parents house since he was going to be gone a lot today for work. I was so happy because my mom put on the "march of the penguins" movie for all of us and it was so cute getting so see them!! I love how penguins walk - so precious!! :) After the movie my mom said she wanted to watch a short video about breast cancer and it was saying how women should start doing a self exam in their 20's and how important it was but it didn't say how to do it. Well, it concerned me even though I am 19 so when daddy got home and he say in his easy chair I hopped on his lap and asked him to please do a breast exam on me to check for anything that shouldn't be there. (He used to be a medic for the army) At first he was kind of reluctant but I kept begging him and putting on a cute face so he did. Daddy said he didn't find anything abnormal but Jessica later said I should have had my husband's permission.

We use to live together 31/2 years ago and he feels he dont have to pay nothing for MY kids. He pays for the other 2 and I don't understand why he's doing MY kids wrong? Ok, for those of you that know me, this'll be a bit of a recap. My boyfriend and I got engaged quite some time ago (September 14), and we both decided to not tell our parents right away. He was in the process of getting a new job, I had school, yadda, yadda. We decided that he would ask them for permission by Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving was last week and my parents still don't know. He talked to his and they said we should wait to get engaged, since he's only just now moving out of the house. That's fine, I can wait.

We saw my parents over the weekend, and I let them read a rant I was working on for a class. In there, I call my fiance my fiance. They haven't said anything yet, but when they do what do I do??
