There is nothing you can do but be there for her if it falls apart. Just let her know that you love her and that you will always be there for her. It is hard, but you have to let her go and find out for herself. Above all, make sure you are there for the child.

You can't. The only person who can help her, is her. The family can however help that child. If she is having unsavory people around the baby, doing drugs, high on drugs, there is no telling what will happen to him/her.
To sit back and have another life become a trauma case would be not only the mothers fault, but anyone who knows what the baby is exposed to, that does what the mother seems to be doing, nothing. Please help the child.

Sometimes you just have to walk away If she doesn't want your help there is nothing you can do. on the other hand if you feel the child is in danger then you should contact child protective services and have them check on the kid. if they feel its warranted to remove the the child they will also probably have your sister arrested, and as harsh as that sounds the only place she is going to get help is from within the system
good luck

That sounds like a very familiar story. My sister has gone through craziness like this. In the begining I was always blabbing to her and getting involved trying to protect her, until I realized it was getting me nowhere and she was going to do what she wanted without anyone having a say. You basically answerd the question you cant help someone who doesnt want to be helped. SHe will most likely come to her senses when something really bad happens-when its too late.

Love is blind. Your sister is going to have to find out for herself.
I would be more worried about her child. If she is not being a responsible parent then sisiter or no sister, you need to think of that child and call protective services.

Sweetie, you can lead a horse to water, but not a jackass. In other words, you can't help a person who dosen't want to help themselves. Your parents may be able to help the child by keeping it, and geting it away from your disfunctional sister. Might do you some good to stay away from her also. Good luck! :) Arum

If she doesn't want your help, there is nothing you can do , except alienate her. It is not your job to fix your sisters life. Trust me, it doesn't pay, except in heartache. She will make her own mistakes no matter what you say or do.

she has to accept help, sorry, it has to be up to her, my father in law brought his 50 year old son here from Texas to save him from being a wino, and he still is, he took advantage of his parents for a year and they finally kicked him out.
