Ok, for those of you that know me, this'll be a bit of a recap. My boyfriend and I got engaged quite some time ago (September 14), and we both decided to not tell our parents right away. He was in the process of getting a new job, I had school, yadda, yadda. We decided that he would ask them for permission by Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving was last week and my parents still don't know. He talked to his and they said we should wait to get engaged, since he's only just now moving out of the house. That's fine, I can wait.

We saw my parents over the weekend, and I let them read a rant I was working on for a class. In there, I call my fiance my fiance. They haven't said anything yet, but when they do what do I do??

Hi again! Thank you all for the wonderful answers! Since I'm here, I just want to clear up one little detail: I didn't realize he was in my rant until today (they read it Saturday) when I was reading it again. When I wrote it, I had no intention of sharing it with anyone (especially not them), so I let myself write what I wanted. I finished it and promptly forgot. My bad...

You better own up, giving your parents a clue such as letting them read your rant where you mentioned your fiance is a pretty sneaky way of doing things.
You just told them that you don't value them.

Frankly, if you're going to marry him, do it already and stop tip-toeing around them. You can tell them politely, but TELL them, not ask permission, unless you're not an adult. Good luck.

Better hurry up and tell them. If they are good parents they will wait for you to tell them. Good Luck!

Just do what is in your heart...forget about Family. If you truly love this man then just go for it. BE HAPPY .. that is all that is important!
