when you buy or adopt a pet, you are taking responsibility for a life! Absolutely they should be treated with respect and love. If someone is not ready to handle that, then they should try a pet rock...
I used to have a roommate that pretty much neglected her lab puppy for the whole 6 months we lived together and it made me so angry!!! It fell on me to take care of her, which I did, but that's not cool...

I love my dog more than anything in the world. nothing could make me appreciate him less. the thing about pets is the fact that no matter how shitty your life is, they still love and appreciate you. they dont care if everyone else in the world hates you as long as you are there. My dog makes me feel better everytime I see him. Don't worry, not all people treat pets as accessories. I think it's horrible when people do that.

No, I have a dog, that's part chow, border collie, and a little lab. He is treated with royalty. He is an outside dog, but on cold nights, he comes in and lays just inside the door, or he has run of the garage, but he goes with me a lot of places, He is actually tied just outside the front door, with a 50 foot chain, and he gets attention everytime we enter or exit our house. He's smarter than some people I know.

Believe it or not some people do! If your sister isn't taking care of the dog properly then maybe you should educate her on proper dog care. Get her a book or magazine or something like that. If she still continues to neglect the poor animal then take it to a no kill shelter. It is abuse what she is doing and it isn't fair to the dog it did not ask to be brought there. Please help it now or it's going to die.

I think that any pet that you bring into your house, should be treated as part as the family. I treat my dogs that way, and my cat thinks I serve her. If people don't have time or money, they have no business owning a pet. Good Luck!! : )

Unfortunately they do, I'm afraid. When one decides to get a pet for the family, they should do so with the knowledge that they have certain responsibilities to this animal. Beyond feeding them. A household pet deserves all the love and attention that any family member deserves. maybe you can help teach her this.

i've also known ppl who have pets, and don't seem to care about them...you have to wonder why they even have them.
we have 2 dogs, 1 cat, 2 ferrets, 3 birds, 12 fish, 10 rats, and a rose-haired tarantula. they are my animal children. lol. my ferrets have more toys than i do, and live in a 4-story luxury condo cage. before i even think of buying something for myself, i think of what my pets might need...food, etc.
i used to have 6 horses, a squirrel monkey, goats, and a racoon too. 2 of my horses were wild mustangs i adopted from the bureau of land management, and trained myself. they were really sweet and gentle. someday, i hope to have miniature horses.

My cat is a member of my family. I even call her young lady when I'm angry with her, as though she was child. However, my hamster is kind of like your sister's dog. He wouldn't be, except my cat wants to eat him so I can't take him out.

We love our dogs. They give us unconditional love. They greet us when we come home and curl up next to me and my wife on the couch and in our bed.
