Family - October 2006

I hope that I do enough with my girls. We go to the park, we go for walks, we dance, we play in the backyard, etc. I felt guilty the other day when I sat down to read a magazine (for the first time in almost 3 years, honestly) and the girls were at my feet in seconds demanding my attention. Is it okay to occasionally do my own thing or am I supposed to be involved with them whenever they are awake?

My mother gave me and my sister up to my father when we were 3 and 6 months old. She went on to raise two more kids on her own. Although this was almost thirty years ago, she still has not explained herself. She never told us why. When we bring up things my father has said about it she just gets mad and says that is not the way it was. But again she will not talk about it. My question is doesnt she owe us an explanation or is it better to let sleeping dogs lie?

My dad's birthday is coming up october 31. He is turning 42 years old. He is chef and and owns a restaurant so he is very busy. So what can I buy for him?
-He dones't like to read books(he doesnt have time)
-he likes music especially jazz
-movies are ok but he falls asleep before watching them
-sport wise he doesnt do anything maybe I should buy him something in sports.
-He likes doing real estate
-He likes to drive vespa and dreams to own a Harley davidson (maybe I should buy a book on it?)
-he is French just like my mom, so anything involving english is so so.
-PDA doesnt work for him(too complicated)
-He doesnt like complicated things.

Im not allowed to have a free life even oing to the mall i have to take permission for that just to go for 1 hour they just keep on calling until iim back home its so complicated than u expect ... i live in an arab community with a very conservative silly stupid parents... im 28 what to do ...i feel i wanna suicide (if u saw the movie virgin suicide it almost same but even worse) im not allowed to do anything that a normal adult can do ...i want to runaway from home and leave my country how?

My friends down becuase his Brother wont do plastic surgery on him .I do try to cheer him up but its to no avail.

A little background his brother is a plastic surgeon that gets to do 1 free operation a year . He has given his mom a tummy tuck and his step sister breast augmentation .

My friend has a condition that predisposes him to gaining weight on the middel.yet his brother wont operate on him . He has repeatley done what his brother suggested such as running or trying to eat high protein diets. Since he doesnt make much money eating a high protein diet is expensive .My friend does work out 3 time a week .

Should my friend accept it and move on ?

I can tell this eats him up inside .

Would there be a better way for my friend to approach his brother on this ?

By next door, I mean the room next the couples room? I believe that this wrong. My small cousin age 7, keeps asking me what is going on in my parents room but I don't know what to say. Paid for lie detector, but person cried so much, the man stopped and wouldn't continue. I keep being told lies by this person and I really think that person did it. What should I do? Law enforcement didn't care for my mom and don't seem to care she was burnt a horrible death either. I miss her and goin CRAZY!! Please give advise!!

Ok, my parents divorced after 20 years of marraige. I am 19. They have been divorced for about 3 years. My mom is remarried and my dad is not. So, recently my aunt's new husband passed away due to a heart attack,.... I called my REAL dad right away becuase,... he loves my aunt like family,... we all used to be close,... well when I told him,... he immediatly wanted to go to the funeral and pay respects and give her some $$$$,... he met my aunts husband at my sisters wedding. I told my mom and she said: No, dont invite him,... just let him give a donation. But I didnt listen,... I went with my REAL dad. She was real upset,... the WHOLE family were happy to see him, since many havent seen him since the divorce. And now my mom dosnt want to call me and my stepdad said he was real hurt.... what do u think?

WOW! I just started 7th grade and my mom has gotten meaner ...i always say shutup and now that i am older she starts grounding me for it. My boyfriend has a 1996 pontiac transport van. We live with my parents in a fairly large home. The other day my dad was backing out of the drive way and scuffed the bumper on his van and cracked up one of the side marker lights. He has had it up for sale for like 3 years and always saying he's going to get a new vehicle because this ones has been eating up some cash lately. My dad said he would replace the light but he isn't going to fix the bumper, claiming that he was parked in the drive way cock-eyed anyway. All the sudden now there's a truck my boyfriends looking at a nd they said they would give him $1500.00 for the van but either he would have to get the bumper repiared or they would and have to deducted the trade amount from the repair bill. I'm caught in the middle and don't know what i should say to either person. If it were my vehicle I would want it fixed no matter what, it was'nt that way before.

I have some porn magazines, a cd i burned with some porn on it, a bottle of alcohol, and some money I dont want my parents finding. Where is a good place to hide it in my room? All I have in my room is a bed, my desk(no drawers), and a wardrobe that takes up one wall.(Just has shelves and racks, no drawers) I dont want a lock box because it makes it obvious youre hiding something. Can anyone provide insight into this? Is this a regional/cultural thing? My husband (27 years old) calls his mother and father "mommy and daddy?" He is of Italian descent from Long Island. Coming from the south, I have never heard of such a thing. He doesn't do it around his male friends, but everytime I hear it, I cringe. What is the deal? Alright...I'm a nanny for this family. I live with them. It feels like I'm always on duty...even though I'm not. The kids never listen to me...even when I am the only adult in the house. I've tried talking to the parents, but they don't think their kids are bad. So...I decided to leave, but I have 2 more months left. How do I make it through till I leave? I'm going crazy! The kids are constantly in my stuff...and even though I tell them to not get in my stuff...they do it anyways!
