There is a process in place. First ask for the Fire Department's evaluation on what started the fire. If one hasn't been done, ask for one through a lawyer. Next get togethor all the facts you know, who what where when and how about the fire, including any statements by this individual that others may have also overheard. Then take your material to your states Police Review Board and file a complaint that the death of your mother was not properly investigated. Lastly whatever you do, don't confront him or say one word to him, if he calls hang up without saying a word. If comes up to you on the street, don't utter one word to him, but run away and yell with a loud voice, "Help." Lastly look up a book called "The Gift of Fear" on Amazon.com. You could probably use some of the pointers in the book.

Honey, I am really sorry to hear that you lost your mother. And I completely understand your need to bring this person to justice. Don't stop trying. Guilt is eventually going to get the better of this person. You have a really big angel on your side up there, and as long as you keep her in your heart, she's going to be the one who'll help you and guide you. You know this, it's what drives you to seek the truth and have someone held accountable. You are doing the right thing right now. You are pestering everyone who will listen...keep doing that. Keep people talking about it in the community. The more people do, the guiltier this person is going to feel and even if it was an accident, they will hopefully do the right thing and come forward. My heart goes out to you. I too, lost my mother in a tragic accident. This is one of those things that you never give up on. I should warn you though...that carrying this burden around with you will wear you down. And even if the truth comes out, it doesn't make the hurt go away or the pain you feel any less. Only time can heal that. I wish you well sweetie, and peace....peace in your heart, peace in your soul and peace in your mind as you seek the answers you deserve.

There's probably a lack of evidence, which is why law enforcement won't pursue it. If you have some sort of proof you need to continue after it; but having had fire investigation courses, you have to PROVE that the fire was accidental and wasn't cause by other things (eg, the water heater - even when this doesn't seem likely). In many states, a lie detector cannot be admitted as evidence in court.

Thats a pretty tought question, Id keep bugging the law enforcement people. Ask the fire department questions, I mean my grandmother died in a fire and the fire department went out and investigated. what did they say in your situation? Who is this person and why would you think this person started the fire? Important questions to ask yourself. Ask other people who know this person if the accuser has mentioned anything.

Did the fire department find the cause of the fire and was it suspicious or something that could happen to anyone? If you think there's something here, all you can do is keep on it. It may take you years. Try to get the District Attorney to hear you out.
