I have a 14 year old who thinks I'm the coolest thing since sliced bread... yes, always, I work to a level she can relate to. I do the same with my 3 year old. My husband does the same. We try to live somewhat in their world, but we were 80's kids, so it's easy to move between teen-toddler and adult worlds. In these times, ANYTHING you can do to anchor your kids is well worth making a fool of yourself.

we share the same train of thought...i do stuff with my 15 year old all the time and i think it keeps the communication going...i try to show her things to do without boys, drugs and alcohol...(one of my biggest fears is that she'll get in with the wrong crowd)...
her friends say i am the cool mom...we ride around and i let them play their music...i have seen jesse mccartney and brittney spears and oh, the click five-( they're cool) we do girls night out, even tho sometimes i have worked all day, i force myself...so, anyway, be silly, be cool, be her friend and mom!!

Good for you. I think that it makes you a great parent! Girls love to talk...if she thinks that you won't be upset, she'll tell you anything! And remember you might sound like a geek, but tell her what all those guys are going to tell her before hand....she might act like she's ignoring you, but when a guy tells her that he loves her and so on....she'll remember what you said, and she won't get used!
