My daughters boyfriend does not know his father. The father has not been in his or his brothers lives since they were young. My husband feels he should be found and made to pay back child support. He has been searching on the web for him, and believes he has located him. He is talking to our daughters boyfriend who is 17 about finding him for the child support reason. The father was abusive in ways we are not sure of. It is believed the mother has settled for a sum of 5000.00 for both boys. (The boyfriend has a brother.) My husband thinks that is not nearly enough and the matter should be pursued. What do you think?

I have a 3 year old daughter. She has been in daycare/learning center since she was 4 months old. She has always loved going and we have never had a problem. My 1 year old goes to the same daycare. For the past 2 nights, she has started crying uncontrollably and telling me that she does not want to go to "school", that nobody likes her there and that everyone is mean to her. I have asked her if her teachers are mean to her and she says no, just the other kids in her class. She says that nobody will play with her. My husband dropped her off today, so I have not had a chance to speak with her teachers... do you think that I should or should I just let it go and see if it works itself out? I do not want to sound like an overly anxious parent to the staff but I would like to see if they can make sure that she is being included. It hurt so badly to hear my daughter this upset. I have taken the day after tomorrow off of work so that we can spend some time together...

My daughter's dad is in prison for something he did when he was 18 years old. He is now almost 30 and only has about 7 months left. How can I get my daughter to understand that everything will be ok and that there is nothing she can do to make what he did go away. She thinks her life is misreable because of this, although I try to tell her that being with me should bring her some happiness.

I'm supposed to meet my biological father really soon.

He's never seen me in real life, only pictures. What should I talk to him about? It just seems kinda dumb and pointless for me to meet him... he's been out of my life for 16 years, so why should I tell a stranger my life's details even if we share blood and genes.

Suggestons for what to talk about would be greatly appreciated. Thanks^^

My daughter, in her second year of college, is doing a speech on mental retardation. Though her sister, is mild mentally retarded, we wanted to hear some stories from our fellow readers, and our sources on the internet seem limited to the same things. Could you give your insights, or any short stories u may have about your child, so that she may draw from them for her paper? God Bless to all of you, as a mentally handicapped child is truly a gift of God.

This is a long one so hang on till the end. My boyfriend and I have been together for 3 yrs. and plan to get married soon. The problem is his mother! She and her 25(her son and I are only 23) yr old boyfriend have moved in with us. I was not consulted about this. Now that she lives here, she feels the need to run our house. How we raise our son, what I cook, how much we don't eat, what I feed my son, how I disipline my daughters, how clean I keep my house, she even told me to shoot my dog cause she licked our 3 yr old in the face! If I don't do what she says, she gets pissed off and rants and raves. My boyfriend lets her get away with it! He doesn't seem to under stand that I and our three kids come before his mother. He actually said that we were all equal priorities to him!!! I have begged, cried, pleaded, threatened, everything I can think of and he just does not get it. He gets mad at me because he says we fight like children. What do I do? I don't want to leave him, but I will.

I am 18 and my moms son is 12 am very jealous of him in family related issues. I am mad because My mom and his dad have been together since he was born and my parents were never together. I wish that MY parents were together at times as a child I would keep to myself because they looked like the perfect family.
I did not want to intrude. I had my own father but I pushed him away because He missed out on alot. I love my brither but it seems he is more happy than I was as a child. Is this normal

My 19 yo brother is on drugs (marijuana, pills and ???). He doesn't work or go to school. He lives at home with my Mother and Step-Father (they are good parents and were never abusive; either physically or verbally). He has no respect or care in the world and treats everyone around like garbage. He is starting to steal money from our Mother.

Is there anyone who can offer some loving advice so we can try and help him with his addicition, even though he claims he is fine and doesn't want or need help.

My brother had a son 11 years ago. He committed a crime when he was 21 and gave over temporary guardianship to my parents. (My nephew's mom gave up her rights) When he got out of prison he tried to get his son back but my parents fought him on this. It went to court and since my parents have more money they were able to pay for experts and they got legal custody and my brother lost all rights. I stayed out of it. I didn't testifiy on either's behalf. The court battle lasted 2 years. When my brother lost, he gave up hope and was really angry at my parents and lost contact with his son. In the meantime my brother legally changed his last name to his biological mother's maiden name because he had a baby and doesn't want the new baby to have our parents' last name. I have tried to stay out of the middle but I did tell my dad that my brother changed his name. My dad told me that they adopted my nephew. My brother doesn't know this! Should I tell him? My dad said I shouldn't!

I am 18 years old and I just began to build a relationship with my dad. When I was a child he married and moved to Germany where he had two kids. He did not call much and he did not see me much. He moved back when i was seven and i just pushed him away. My relatinship with him makes it hard for me to keep a girlfriend because I have a bad attitude but it is because I am mad as hell. My mom was in high school when I was born and she dropped out to take care of me. He was basically free. Should I just forgive him because I love him or just let him go because I get angry fast.

My mother is rediculous. Im 19, finishing up my second year of college, getting ready to go to my bachelors program at a university. I work a serious job as a credit processor, and she is still on my case!!!!!!! She says I am too young and she will do what ever it takes to stop the relationship. She is crazy and argues with me over the same stuff. For crying out loud the young man is going to school to be a pastor, his version of fun is sitting down watching football alone or reading the Bible. He is veggitarian, Bible believing, doesnt hang out or nothing. Doesnt smoke, drink, curse or nothing....she just doesnt like "his past" yet she a christian...help!!!!!!!!!!! She is driving me crazy...should I move away?
