If you are gay first of all do not worry that something is wrong with you. It is COMPLETLY natural and completely OK to like the same sex it does not make you wrong or perverted. If you are gay the best way to tell your parents is first of all don't tell them right away. Plan on how YOU will tell them, I will give you some advice but it is ultimately up to you to tell them in your own way and words about your feelings. Also, if you tell them right away they may jump to wrong conclusions about you. After a week or two ask if you can take a stroll to the park or get an ice cream with your family. While this is happening tell them exactly what you want them to know. You should also include the five W's which are WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, and most important WHY? I can't tell you exactly what to say since I am not in that predicament but I hope this advice has helped you.

I dunno how old you are, but I told my mom I was a lesbian when I was 15. She kind of didn't believe me, and she told me to come back and tell her that when I was 18 and maybe she'd believe me. And guess what? I never forgot that, and the day I turned 18 I said mom... I'm still a lesbian :) lol. I have been very fortunate though in terms of comming out and being accepted. My mom even came with me to my first ever gay pride parade in NYC. You can never know how they will respond though. One of my close friends was kicked out of her house when she told her parents, and she was only 15. Tell them when your ready. Tell them during a "quite period" when they aren't stressed about holidays, work, taxes ect. And by the way, do not tell them while they (or you) are driving in the car. BAD IDEA. lol. Give them time for the idea to sink in. I'm sure that everything will be ok. It may take time, or they may suprise you and already know and be fine with it.

I dont know how old you are, but it is important that you think about how they may or may not respond. The chances of them NOT being happy are pretty high, so you need to go in thinking that they will not accept you for you. It is hard I am sure - I had dealt with something similar, telling my parents that I was prego by a black man. They were not to happy about it, but what could they do. We are who we are and they have lived their life , so you should be able to live yours.. Good luck!

It depends on your parents. You have to appeal to them with something they will be able to relate to. Chances are your parents already know. They raised you, and preferences appear early in life. Many families are relieved when their child finally is honest with them....and themselves. Sexual orientation often runs in families, so chances are you are not the only one, if that is the case ask a relative what the stumbling blocks were for them. Most parents love their children unconditionally and just want them to be happy, approach it that way telling them that you are being true to yourself.

...if being gay is just as normal as being straight... why do you have to say anything?
I never annouced to my parents that I was straight! I doubt no other "straight" person did either...
(just a thought)
