Do children of mixed parents have a higher chance of birth defects, or problems?
such as white and filipino?

My father just told the family that in order to save money on our gas and oil bill he was going to turn off the hot water for at least 6 months!
What should we do?

Most of all your answers were to beat my daughter's butt,for her bad behavior,and to tell my husband (her dad).But I couldn't swat her butt, i don't like that, my husband might but I wouldn't like it if he did to her.What can i do ???? She stared a new job in July and left two of her three boys for me to watch. They stay with me 24/7. She will not even get them on her days off. She will not help with the expense of raising them, they are ages 7 and 6. She claims to not have the money to pay for a babysitter but today I found out that she bought a little puppy for a few hundred dollars. How can she spend time and money on a dog that she will not spend on her kids? If I stop watching the boys they will go to their father and he is pysically abusive. I don't want them to go to foster care but I need help. I feel like I am beginning to hate my own daughter.Is there any way I can get her to have more to do with her children without putting them in jeopardy? The boys don't want to be with either one of their parents but I have a hard time getting them to listen to me. If I threaten to send them home they get upset. I feel like I have nowhere to turn. I don't know what to do.

Is it too much to ask a three or four year old to go to the bathroom before a kids movie and then hold it until afterwards before going again, so that you don't have to get up and take him to the bathroom in the middle of a movie (at a movie theatre) or at a short kids show? (I don't see other kids/parents getting up as much as we do)

I'm a 16 year old girl. I'm a great kid...I'm an A honor roll student. I don't drink, smoke, do drugs, sneak around, I don't have sex with random people or anyone for that matter...I don't yell at them. I do what I am told useless I forget but as soon as I remember, I go do it. I'm not saying that I would like to go out and do those things. I mean, I love my brain cells. And I believe in waiting til marriage for sex. I'm just saying that I would like them to back off a little. My best friend's mom asked me if I wanted her to adopt me. She has been asking me for like the last 3 years. Do you think I should let her. I love her and her family. I know they would treat me right. But why must they treat me badly?... How could I get them to lighten up a little?

Caught in the middle of families...I dont know what to do, my father left when i was two and know all of a sudden wants to reconnect [14 years later] and my family [all but my mom] does want me to. I am semi- willing to reconnect but if i do my family will hate me, i have grown up with my family, and not my father. [notice i dont call him dad] I was to young to know what happen 14 years ago , and now all i get are stories, whats worse is they stories don't line up, making it hard to base a decision. So i guess my real question is,my family or a stranger?

I was at restaurant with my boyfriend and his 4 year old son. The son was playing with his toy train at the table. The son started to "toot" and whistle really loudly. (The boyfriend didn't nothing as always). I told the son that we were inside a restaurant and we needed to toot and whistle more quietly. I demonstrated what I meant. The son thought it was a game and said "no" and laughed. I told him that we needed to be more quiet. When he didn't, I gave him a choice to play with the train quietly or not play with the train at all. He ended up playing with the train more quietly and I complimented him on playing more quietly.

Was this, in your opinion, okay to do? If I had taken the train away, then what? I don't want the kid to sit there and do nothing while we wait for the food, but he can't play that loudly. What if he started screaming? Do we leave the restaurant? If we leave, then won't he scream every time we do something he doesn't like?

How long will it take you to make it right if you only have 10 days to do it in? Maybe you should work on keeping it to a minimum all year leading up to now? Then you'll only have a couple to fix? L'Shannah Tovah to those who understand. ( I have a couple of details to worry about myself.)

This is a serious question concerning my father's health. He was living a good life just a few days ago. He just got a new job that he enjoys, he found out my mom did not have cancer, and was getting in shape. Overnight he just snapped and started yelling at both me and my mom, and I could tell he hated us with a passion. I could see hatred in his eyes. He is not acting normal. I don't know what to do, or who to ask, but I want to know whats wrong with him. Is there a medical disease or something that would drive a person to act this way?

I just found out that a friend from the past married her first cousin. I was a bit put off by it at first (ok, I was grossed-out). But, I guess it is not completely unheard of. my daughter has become a closet drinker
I find half gallons of vodka hidden in her room.
I trying to figure out the best way to talk to her about it. Iam not good at keeping cool and this problem is really eating me up. She is unable to do much because she is handicapped. So she has a lot of free time on her hands just stays in her room. She is also on heavy medication and really doesn't care about what happens to herself but as a parent this who issue is tearing me up inside.

If I go, that means I have to take a day off of work and miss pay all for some lady I don't know. I feel bad and I know I should be there for my boyfriend, he wants me to go and meet some other family members as well, but I don't want to.
