What context? Some things are easy to lie about. Others are hard because of a guilty conscience. It helps if he believes he is doing something wrong. It also helps if he knows that you disapprove even if he thinks it is OK. Pay attention to the details. Do things add up? How much time should something take versus how much time it did take? What about the quality of work? Is work or school changing for better or worse unexpectedly? Even an unexplained improvement is cause for question? It might be a good thing, but who knows?

if you think he's lying, then hes more than likely lying. my brother is 17 and always lies to my parents... i know when hes lying because he'll tell me the truth and then tell my mother a whole different story. ive noticed when my mom thinks he's lying, he usually is even if she just drops the whole thing.

If I had a 17 year old I'd assume he was lying.
I lied about everything when I was 17.
I'm being totally serious.

Shifty eyes, nervous hand movements, and above all...seemingly offering up WAY TOO much information regarding the exact situation he is lying about! There are always ways to catch him up on his lies...

Youll know if they are acting funny, different, or strange...not their usual self. Their story wont make sense, or theyll change their story. OR, you check on what they are telling you, by making a phone call. OR follow them.
If you really want to know, you gotta do the homework.

The Eyes Tell All, When you ask them a question, if they dont look in your eyes when they answer or if they look up they are unsure, if they look down they are ashamed and are not telling the truth

You should try to trust your child and see what comes out of it because we were kids long ago and it hasn't changed allot. If you have done your best with raising your child it will turn out alright have faith in your kids they are a part of you.

Ask them very specific questions - and look them straight in the eye. Then attempt to verify thru their friends, and their friend's parents. Remember it is easy to be your child's friend - but much better for them if you are their parent.
