This would be our second child and with the first pregnancy my husband's mother said - Oh - when we told her on Mother's Day of 2000. So far everyone knows except them.

I moved back to my home state about two years ago after living in a different state for work.

At that time, it was more financially suitable for me and my other half to move in with my parents "temporarily" than it was for us to purchase another home or rent a place of our own.

We get along really well with my parents. We all even made the decision a year ago to move and split the rent of a large, expensive home that my parents would not have been able to afford without our help.

The thing is, we are both in our 30s now!! The two of us have a very above-average income and both work in professional capacities. And, I run a part-time home business.

I really want to purchase a condo of our own. but, we are on a lease at this place with my parents for another year. Would it be inappropriate to go ahead and start looking for a condo anyway?

We really like my parents, but even with the larger house our "personal space" and privacy seems to get smaller every day.

Anyone have advice?

Last night while i was sleeping my 15 year old daughter took my car without asking, she only has her permit. There was over 300 miles put on it. I am so upset with her and i don't know how to handle it. If anyone has any suggestions on what kind of punishment i should give her i would appreciate it.

I am the youngest child in a family with four siblings. I'm having the hardest time reclaiming my self-esteem and inner power. I feel like my family doesn't respect my time and privacy. Nobody cares if I have a life (studying, going out, etc) or have a boyfriend because they constantly interrupt me or expect I give up what I have to do for them. If I say no, I feel the guilt trip coming. I'm pegged as the shy one, the one who never speaks up, etc. They have been reinforcing this image in my life the longest time. I feel like my power is being drained. I'm hoping to move out soon--way overdue (I'm 33 yrs old), but will it really change things? What is a good remedy to show my family once and for all--I'm not a kid! I can be a powerful person too!

My father has abused me since I was very young. (about 5) He claims he hasn't done it, but even the rest of my family says he has. He denies doing anything wrong. So does that mean that I am the one doing something wrong?

I am 13 years old, almost 14.I was adopted young is all I know.
Supposedly, when my birth mother was pregnant with me,my birth father died, which is true he really did.I didn't know all my life I was adopted in fact I haven't known that long at all!Well my real mom,I have known her as my cousin in the family. She's like a second cousin to my adoptive-dad.So I really am related to them.Nobody, has yet told me what age I was adopted at,but I can remember many things.I love my adoptive parents. But the problem is I haven't always been so close to my "was cousin..now mom".I mean I see her every now and then.Well just last week I saw her again,at my aunt's funeral. And the whole time her and I talked trying to get to remember each other better.I really want to be closer to her so bad! I miss her everday.Do you think her new husband will mind me or hate me? If she has another child wont she love it more?

Can anyone give me advice on this situation? I have done nothing but treat my fiance with the greatest respect. But his mother does not want us together (she has done this with all his relationships including friends). Today while waiting for my fiance to be called in for eye surgery, she comes in and throws a huge scene because i am his emergency contact. they end up outside the building and she is screaming at him at the top of her lungs. i went outside and calmly asked that they discuss this later considering he is having surgery in a few minutes. she told me to basically shut up and to not interrupt since she is his mother - my fiance defended me and walked away from her. i went after him to comfort him and she took a handful of my hair and threw me to the ground leaving me with a decent sized cut on my elbow and left me completely drenched since i was thrown into a puddle. the surgery center called the cops and i filled out a police report but now i do not know what to do.

I'm in dental school. It was really expensive to live in an apartment so I moved into my old house (plenty of room), which was really Mother's idea. I also need as much quiet time as possible.

So obviously school is stressful & at the end of the day I have to put up w/ abuse from my mother. She expects me to cook for her. She is incredibly stubborn, nagging, childish, and bitter. She is really lazy and sloppy around the house, but picks on me for every little thing ("what is this stratch on my new refridgerator? "what was that noise, you almost broke the floor!", "look at this floor, it's all ruined now!"). Just the sound of her voice makes my stomach tense up & I want to throw up.

In high school, I stayed w/ friends most of the time because I wanted to avoid her. BTW, she is only 50 and NOT senile or anything, she's always been like this. She has always been extremely nervous, over protective, just generally awful to be around. Is it wrong to avoid her as much as I can?

M-N-Law lives on our boat and pays nothing. We live in her house and pay rent, I just paid for a year in advance to be nice. Utilities in her name so she can keep it owner occupied to keep her rate low. We pay her back. She tells people she pays for everything, she's almost convinced herself. Because we paid rent in advance she feels she can come whenever she pleases, treat my children and I with disdain, she threw all our keep sakes away, tried to blame my family for her storage theft, so she could feel better about what she did to us. She actually tried to hit me when we had a verbal disagreement about her using us as slave labor because we "owe her". I wish I had not gave her the money for the entire year of rent, because we would be able to rent to own with 13,800$. She wants her son single because he clings to her when he is, she needs that control. We are in a horrible predicament, what can I do.

They moved in with us, and we watch the babies all the time, my mom says she is sick of it, and they don't seem to want to move out anytime soon. I kinda want them to move out, but I don't want us to seem pushy. They are 17 and 18, and they could just move in with my cousins dad, but chose not to. What do I do? I don't want us to become the enemy.

My step-dad use to be really cool, then he just changed. He's always pissy and hateful, and it's always TOWARD ME. My mom has talked to him about it, but he won't stop. He just ignores me, even when I try to ask him about it. How do I deal? I leave in a year for college though - Thank God!

my cousin's dog died on Monday? Very quickly, intestines, something in there? I dunno. I sent her an e-mail but she never was on before. She's living in Vegas but back home in WY for a week I guess, missing work? I'm surprised they let her? Anyway, I was wondering if I should call. She's had the dog for a while. I lost a pet, put to sleep so I know, I only had a year w mine. I dunno if she wants to be alone. What is proper u think? Should I call and leave a message and let her call?
