Are you hiding something emotional or something tangible? Go ahead you can tell me, I promise not to share it with anyone...heck I don't even know your family.

Sometimes yes. Life is more complicated than black-and-white truth and honesty. Sometimes you have to hide things to protect the ones you love. They say the truth will set you free, but what about who the truth shoots down? They also say what you don't know won't hurt you, and I've witnessed that on occasion. Truth is to me a form of responsibility. You can use it both ways, either to help or to hurt. If you want to keep the peace, I don't see why you would come forward with the truth when it doesn't matter, unless it's something someone absolutely has to know.

I used to hide things, then I learned from my experience. It is just not worth hiding things. If you have to hide it then you should not be doing it in the first place. Hiding to me equals lying. Honesty is always the best policy. You can take that to the bank!

Some things are classified as need-to-know basis only. I don't hide the tangibles from myself because I won't remember where they are when I need them.

"To secure peace is to prepare for war"!!

Actually, I don't hide anything tangible from my kids other than chemicals that will kill us all if they are swallowed, mixed, or ignited. But- there are some things they are just better off not knowing about their dad.
