First of all I am not forcing him to potty train. He wants to go on the bog biy potty all the time. He actually has a pretty good aim at it too. But he doesn't always tell me when he has to go. He will tell me after he does his job that he went potty. Just wondering if anyone has got some good ideas about helping the whole potty training move along smoothly (if that is at all possible).

For the past wk, my 8 yr old daughter has been more clingy, emotional and scare of death. If her dad and I go out she is constantly trying to find out when are we coming home. She told me last nite she was scared of dying and scared of her parents dying.

Is this normal? What are normal emotions for an 8 yr old?

I've been married for 8 years now and I have a child not by my wife and my wife has a child not by me but we all live in the house together I guess you can call it Brady Bunch style but anyway my daughter loves to spend time with her biological mom almost every weekend but my wife seems to think is a problem and voices this to me all the time. She seems to think its not allowing us to draw closer. Her son my stepson never sees his dad and in fact in the 8 years I think he's seen his dad maybe 5 or 7 times. I told my wife I like the fact my daughter is close to her mom and we have never had problems then I said how is this affecting us I said your fathers son never comes around and I never say anything about that of course she got mad but she was attacking me cause my daughters mom wants to be in her life. I guess my question is how do i deal with this cause I don't want to disrupt my daughter and her mom cause they have always spent alot of time together but I don't want my wife mad.

It was her 20th birthday and he never even called her... they live in the same town, and our mom died about four years ago. And he forgot! How awful is that?

The ladies room was lined up and he really needed to go, and the men's room was empty at the time, but 1 man went in while he was in there (not suspicious just going to the restroom).

She is very generous and nice. I care for her a lot but sometimes I lose my patience with her. When she invites us to dinner, I try to help out (because she complains when people don't help out) but then she supervises every step I make. For example, she has complained that I peel the carrots in the wrong direction or don't cut vegetables the right way, i.e., "her way" -- I prefer to cut them on a cutting board, she in midair. Most of the time, I just do what she says and try to take the high road. Other times it will be something so moot that I just put the utensils down and say, "Ok, you do it yourself--your way is the only way." I'm steaming at this point and then do not enjoy eating at all. She is much older and thinks that she has more experience so feels fine ordering me around in the kitchen. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I have a daughter who isa junior in High school (started today) who is a very bright kid and she doesn't seem to understand the importance of good grades in order to get into college. (I am low income and can not give her money). I guess she thinks it's more fun to be cool or spend her evenings on MYSPACE. I know it is her decision and her consequences, but if there was some way of motivating her I would feel better about it.

So my brother has a son, Tom, and his girlfriend has a son, Harry. Tom is my nephew, no doubt about that. If I marry someone, they will become Tom's aunt (as many of my uncles are only related to me through marriage), no doubt about that.

BUT, what if my brother marries his girlfriend? Will Harry become my full 100% nephew (as if he were my brothers) or will he be a nephew in law (lol)?

Oh, and what is a second cousin and what is 'once removed'?

My dad is already at retire age and does not wish to work. His reserves were used up on buying the house. He doesnt have much to do in his free time and my mum accuses him of gambling. (Actually I dont really believe my mum's word as she never really understood my dad) Whereas my mum doesn't believe that she has enough until the day she dies. So she is working like hell trying to save for her coffin. Both of them dont agree much with each other's philosophy in Life.
My dad is a very sensitive person that he doesnt approach me openly for money. But I do try to give him some when I can afford as I was out of work for sometime.
Soon I'll be getting my new job and I'm wondering which is the best way to help in my parent's financial state.
Please give me your opinion :
1) Give money allowance to my dad and trust him to be sensible.
2) Give money allowance to my mum and hope she shares with my dad.
3) Don't give any large sum of money but pay for the bills instead.

Thanks!

My 13 year old doesn't like me asking questions or bothering him. I understand this is normal. I went through it with his brother, but this one is more snotty. Any suggestions on how to approach him without irritating him. It is more complicated this time too because his father and i are living in different houses and sometimes i feel i am losing him. He is with me only a couple days in the week. i just want to let him know I love him and I'm here for other things besides FOOD!
