Family - August 2006

My aunt just passed away and it is going to be very hard on everyone in my family including my mom, grandparents and aunt who has down syndrom. I live out of town, but I have been thinking of staying and helping out. Do you think I should stay for a month or so to help out - or should I focus on my own life? What would you do?

A bit about her: she doesn't like to be touched, so no facials/massage. The doesn't like get away trips (unless she plans it). She doesn't like people to buy her clothes or jewelery. She doesn't drive (so nothing for her car). I'd buy perfume, but if she doesn't like it she'll say, "what did you buy this for?" Her hobby is reading, but she works at a library. She's gotten picture frames in the past but has never used any of them. In short, she's impossible to shop for. anything i buy that is not exactly to her satifsfaction will never be used. Please help...it's this weekend and i'm (if you havn't figured out yet) screwed. Moms, please help. what gifts have you gotten that you've really enjoyed or liked? and, it has to be something tangible...no poems or letters. I'm trying to spend around $200-300. Oh, did i metion that she's really picky? i'm desparate, so i'll take any suggestions.

Well, for a start I am still plating video games that's still fun but my life in my family is getting out of hand... I do some of the chores at home but still wasting my time playing video games...
I'm the second youngest in a family of seven and I am trying to live mostly as an individual but leaving most of the problems to the older ones is a complete waste of time...
So should I try and quit playing while I'm ahead and take more responsibilities in life as an advancement of my maturity or should I continue playing as much as I can before thinking of doing the responsibility role?

Being a teenager sucks big time. My parents (stepdad, actually) won't stop yelling at me about everything! At night, after I've been outside and I'm smelly and sweaty, my stepdad always complains about me smelling, but if I take a bath, I'm wasting water...nothing can please him at all(andthat's just on example). I make good grades, and my teachers are fair, but the kids at school are really mean. I'm dying here! In addition to all of that, my stepdad is catholic and I'm Jewish and I don't think he really respects my religion because every time I make references to it, he rolls his eyes. Also, I'm a writer, and I used to go around and say that I wanted to be published by the time I was 13, and my stepdad would roll his eyes, and now that I do have a short story that I got published in a magazine back in january, 2 weeks before my 13th b-day, my mom claims he's really proud of me. Yeah... right. I want to have a relationship with him, but its really hard because he won't listen

My brother and I went out one night drinking. Well he had too much to drink and started calling me all sorts of bad names, for no reason, to the point where he even hit me...It totally sucked. We had a very good relationship, I just don't understand what happened... After all that drama, I never called him back, but he did try to call to apologize... It has been a month now.. I was really bothered by it. I didn't tell anyone in my family, but he did, and it sort of feels like they all feel bad for him....He seems to blame the alcohole, what do you think it could have been? What should I do? I am 23 years old staying with my parents on a temporary basis. My father and i had aheart to heart about wheather or not i am a burden in my parents lives. cuz he was making me feel like one and we came to an understanding. Then he goes behind my back and signs into my yahoo messanger name and tells some of my friends that i never want to speak to them again. on two seperate occasions to two seperate people. what should i do about this? leave it alone or say something? You're probably wondering how he got into my name. well yahoo was saving my name and password. even after i unsaved it. so i now resorted to uninstalling it and reinstalling it so i wont have to go through this again. what should i do? im 23 years old. and he's doing something yur 10 year old cousin from Alaska would do. im dying over here help me

I ask b/c I grew up with a brother, but many of the guys I know who grew up with sisters are, as adults, better able to get along with women. They instinctively know what to do and not to do when around girls. These guys also seem more calm overall and more satisfied with their female relationships.

I was adopted was 7 years old and I have a biological brother that was adopted by the same people. I dont get along with my adopted parents. they treated me and my siblings badly. so I feel like I dont have parents. I know that my biological parents are looking for me and I dont know weather or not to get in contact with them. I know why I was taken from them, they were both alcoholics and felt they couldnt care for me and brother. Im not sure if their good people or not. I know that I loved them when I said goodbye to them when I was 6. but its been so long that I dont know how i feel adout them any more.

My wife is sick of not getting any help at night. My problem is that I sleep too hard. When my kids are crying or upset I don't wake up and don't help. What can I do to wake up to help? How does one sleep lighter? Thanks.
