A bit about her: she doesn't like to be touched, so no facials/massage. The doesn't like get away trips (unless she plans it). She doesn't like people to buy her clothes or jewelery. She doesn't drive (so nothing for her car). I'd buy perfume, but if she doesn't like it she'll say, "what did you buy this for?" Her hobby is reading, but she works at a library. She's gotten picture frames in the past but has never used any of them. In short, she's impossible to shop for. anything i buy that is not exactly to her satifsfaction will never be used. Please help...it's this weekend and i'm (if you havn't figured out yet) screwed. Moms, please help. what gifts have you gotten that you've really enjoyed or liked? and, it has to be something tangible...no poems or letters. I'm trying to spend around $200-300. Oh, did i metion that she's really picky? i'm desparate, so i'll take any suggestions.

Has she mentioned anything in the last year or two that she would like to get, but hasn't made the purchase yet? Sometimes thinking through past conversations can help.
You could always get her a gift certificate and wrap it in multiple boxes just for fun.
Does she like to cook? I love Pampered Chef products.
Does she like purses? You could buy her a designer purse that she would never spurge on for herself.
What about a first edition or signed book? Something rare...

Ok, for starters, instead of a typical birthday card, get her a sympathy card, you know like the ones for funerals. When my daughter turned 30 I got her one and it was hilarious. As far as a gift goes, your mom does sound hard to buy for, but, get her something that she would never expect. Does she like unique things? Does she collect anything? Do you have any bros and sis? If so, maybe you can get a variety of pictures of the family and get a decent size frame and make a collage. My other daughter did that for me for fathers day. Just do your best, think out of the box and go from there. Good luck.

Does she have a computer? How about a subscription to high speed internet? an external drive like a DVD burner? A bigger LCD monitor? All in one printer??? Digital Camera??? If she's not into computers, WebTV is an easy to use gadget for older people who find computers overwhelming. Check out Circuit City or Best Buy.

Has she mentioned anything like, "I'd really like to get a..." Ask one of her friends or co-workers to pick up on something she's mentioned.

Why not just come right out and ask???

here are a few suggestions--a day trip with you alone, she picks where and when, you pay the outing. Take her to a concert of her favorite singer or a play that she would enjoy( i loved that gift) - hire a maid to come in once a month cleaning.

My father is somebody who can buy anything he wants anytime he wants and it makes him pretty jaded. Getting a present for him that he actually appreciates is about impossible.

For his 50th, I got him a set of coins minted in his birth year, so they were exactly as old as he was and commemorated his birth, so to speak. He liked it! Perhaps your mother would, too?

flow onto Ebay and also you'll e-mail a image to a organization which will then print it on a blanket or a pillow. a good image to deliver them will be one in each of all the youngsters doing something own, like status infront of her fashionable sushi bar or conserving out tickets to a rock live performance (you'll supply the tickets after she sees the image). I were given one for my spouse of the position we meant and she loves it. search for for "image through" good success, Jakada

Consider making a movie of pictures. Windows Movie Maker is awesome. My sisters both loved for their 40th. Find pictures of her, any siblings, any friends, etc. AND give her the prints of them!
