My dad is already at retire age and does not wish to work. His reserves were used up on buying the house. He doesnt have much to do in his free time and my mum accuses him of gambling. (Actually I dont really believe my mum's word as she never really understood my dad) Whereas my mum doesn't believe that she has enough until the day she dies. So she is working like hell trying to save for her coffin. Both of them dont agree much with each other's philosophy in Life.
My dad is a very sensitive person that he doesnt approach me openly for money. But I do try to give him some when I can afford as I was out of work for sometime.
Soon I'll be getting my new job and I'm wondering which is the best way to help in my parent's financial state.
Please give me your opinion :
1) Give money allowance to my dad and trust him to be sensible.
2) Give money allowance to my mum and hope she shares with my dad.
3) Don't give any large sum of money but pay for the bills instead.

Thanks!

The best way to take care of them at this time since you don't trust your mom to share with your dad and you don't know if your dad will spend it wisely.. is to pay some of the bills if you can and that will help them out the most so that they don't have to worry about it.. but once you start don't bail on them because they will be depending on it . not to have to pay them bills that you started paying..it is good of you to want to help them out.. don't cut your self short on money though you may need it and then have a confllict on what to pay .. you have a good heart..

What a wonderful person you are! I am certain that both your parents are very proud of you ...

In my opinion

I would pay the bills as you can afford them buying a few groceries here and there and then if you have extra ..then give a few dollars to each .. but this way you would assure yourself that the bills are being paid .... they can get along without pocket money but can't without food on the table or the rent paid ...

look it's your money. set aside an amount for your reserve.
take an amount to put towards the bills, then split the rest. give dad a part, mom apart, then give you a part, remember if you don't take care of you you can't take care of them.

Definately pay the bills, in person!
It'd be nice to trust, but you do have to be cautious.
