I don't believe that "nuclear families are the order of the day", I believe that the fifties are over and that single parent families are far more prevalent than they used to be. No, the government should not, in my opinion, make it mandatory for children to take care of their aging parents. Children don't normally have aged parents, anyway. Adults do. What if the parent was abusive and gave the person a lousy childhood? What if the person spent their childhood looking after the parent, and has finally managed to gain some hard-won freedom? What if the parent does not want this help? What if the person has children of their own to support? I believe that you reap what you sow, and people who look after their aging parents do so for a reason. And those who don't, they don't for a reason.

I think that it used to be easier to take care of aging parents but now days everyone is spread so thin there's so little expendable time, money resources to spare it takes all you have to make it for your own family who should always be your main priority, I believe we should help our parents out as much as we can but I do not think it should be expected or demanded. you can help them work out whats best with what they have, be kind to them always and don't feel guilty they took care of you because they choose to bring you into this world and now its up to you to do the same for your kids. oh and no way should the government interfere in family if they did it would only be to lighten there financial load not because they really give a dam

,Good Grief!! Do we really need the Government to tell us yet another thing to do?! I, personally don't WANT my kids taking care of me!! Not because they're horrible kids, but because I don't want to be a burden. My retirement funds are taken care of and I plan to live in a nice retirement community, with the option of home care providers. If you don't have the funds to afford such a place, odds are your kids won't either. If the kids are raised right, they'll be the ones to INSIST on taking care of you!! I certainly don't believe the Government needs to get involved!! It seems there would be A LOT more Elder Abuse going on, if kids were "Legally Bound" to take care of their parents.

And if the child was raped by one of their parents?? If the parents were never really a parent? Excuse me, but you dont have kids only to MAKE THEM take care of you when you're older.

Hopefully by the time you fall ill, your kids will care and love you enough to take care of you. If they feel you never took care of them, don't expect much.

Yup, this law should be made.
Sadly, the youngsters today do not take care of their old parents nowadays.
And this law should be made stringent.

No, the government should be forced to take care of them; its only fair after all the bullsh*t the government FORCES on everyone else in the world.
