I'm sorry for your families loss. I agree life is not fair to us. Alot of people fall to religion to answer the question of what life is all about and to give them solace that this might not just be it. Others are spiritual in other ways, calling on the lessons in Nature that show us that we live and we die, like everything else.

I hope you can find some peace by a method of explanation that is appropriate for your culture and personality. And in all things, time passing makes everything easier to bear.

I am so sorry to hear about this misfortune. I will tell you what i was told 20 years ago, when I lost my only son when he was 8 days old...
God puts us on this earth as flowers, and when he see the perfect ones, he takes them to decorate heaven. At first I thought it was a little silly, but after awhile, it brought me happiness. I hope that it will do the same for you. May God bless you and yours. You will all be in my prayers. P.S. Out of all the things people said to me, this is the one thing that has stood out in my mind the last 20 years.

Where is it written that Life is under any obligation to be "fair"?

"Fair" is a perception only we as human beings understand. It exists inside our hearts and minds...but not in the greater world.

No, Life isn't fair - and it isn't UNfair. Life performs the only function it is capable of performing, and that is to exist...and to continue to exist. How it accomplishes this task is irrelevant. Who or what is hurt in the process is irrelevant. Death is a tool that Life uses to make room for evolution.

I don't mean to sound indifferent to your loss, but...that's the simple reality of Existence.

i am so sorry to hear that.

your aunt needs all the emotional support now. i think you'd be by her side. but i also hope for you that time will heal your pain.

sometimes, we really have no control over life's destiny.

take good care.
