How should I break the news to my parents

2006-08-07 02:21:38 · 21 answers · asked by Anonymous

I have a friend that borrows things from me all of the time. It doesn't bother me that much because when I go to her house and I see something that is mine, I ask her if she is done with it, otherwise, I don't get it back. But lately, it has been worse. She was at my house about 2 months ago and asked me if she could borrow my belly button ring. Ewww is what I thought, but I let her. Well, she has yet to return it and I keep asking her for it. She says that it is in her boyfriends car but I still don't have it. One day at her house, I saw it and the top balls gem was ruined. She said that she dropped it on the floor and it chipped. She said something about getting me a new one and I said ok. Well, when I mentioned it the last time we were at the mall, she acted like she didnt know what I was talking about. This is what really makes me mad, she borrows things and ruins them and doesnt fix what she did wrong. Another thing that bothers me is that the ball that she broke didnt

Here's the brief overview.
We don't have much money, never have.
My wife and kids are sick with arthrius/fibromialga/exc....

We are closing on refinancing our home this week. We got some money out on top of the refinance of all the bills. What to do with this extra money?

I want to spend this extra money on a Hot Tub. I feel it will be very benificial to their aches and pains and will help them (my wife and kids) sleep better. I feel very strongly that this is where the money should go.

My wife has always traveled as a kid with her parents. She loves vacations. They invited us to go to the Dells with them. My wife is very excited to go and the kids agree. They don't want the Hot Tub anymore, they want to spend a week on vacation. To me, a vacation is not as big of a priority as a Tub, but now it's 4 to one...

What should I do. Argue the Hot Tub more... or let the vacation fly. It's one or the other, no way to do both.

My great nan (God rest her soul), was in hospital, i think she was about 100 years old at the time. She was doing quite well and recovering from the illness, but there was another elderly lady in the bed opposite my nan who was obviously very unwell. She had tubes in her mouth and nose providing her with oxygen and my nan, not knowing what all the wires and tubes were actually for, said to me ; "that woman must be really important, they had the phones installed for her". I couldnt hold up for laughing for ages

Why are they always setting up internet spyware to track down where your kid goes, why do they always make sure who the child is friends with, why do they always check what books you read and who you go out with and where you have been. Why dont they just mind their own business?

The trouble is, I've been buying him the same old 'grandad gifts' for years. He has much more money than me (I'm limited to about £20). He has anything and everything he could ever want. I should mention it's his 80th, so I can't take him for any thrilling experiences or anything and he doesn't really have any hobbies. I even asked my parents and Grandma, and they're pretty much as stumped as I am. My wife is pregnant with his first great-grandchild, but I already gave them scan-photo's and can't think of anything to do with that which wouldn't seem conceited. Please help me find an original idea, I've paid this a lot of though already and eliminated all obvious options. I only have until this weekend to get something. Thanks in advance!

My boyfriend and I are childfree.... that means we do not ever want children. We have talked about him getting a vasectomy as it is easier, safer and cheaper than me getting a tubal and has a much quicker recovery time. He is fine with this.
My question is do you guys thinks we should have to tell our parents what we have done? Bear in mind we live together, not with our parents but they have started on about grandchildren.

Proper answers would be nice. No "you'll change your mind" crap from breeders please. Thanks.

I am a 25 year old with a 8 year old daughter. I am currently in 3rd year University (Political Science) in Canada and hope to get into law school when I am done. I have been chosen to study abroad in England for 5 months, which is where I am right now visiting friends. My daughter is at home, staying with my parents. She had the choice to come but she wanted to stay with her friends/school/sports/etc. She seems quite happy, although I know she misses me.

So here is my predicament...

I know this exchange will do a lot of great things for me. The very least of which is confidence and self-esteem will go up… which is a major thing for me. It will also demonstrate my flexibility, adaptability, motivation, initiative, independence, self-reliance, responsibility… the list goes on...

But I miss home. I'm having a really hard time being apart from my daughter. We've never spent any significant time apart. Should I power thru and get it over with? Or give in and go home?
