Family - August 2006

I have been writing to my granddaughter as Fairy Lucy since she was 4. She writes back to me and emails me (as Fairy Lucy). She is 7 now and has said that her friends at school don't believe her when she says she has a fairy friend. I told her that they will never see a fairy, or have one for a friend if they don't believe in them.
She tells me all sorts of things because she doesn't think anyone else will know. When do you think would be right time to tell her it has been Nana all along? I love her so much and don't want to hurt her. I never dreamt it would go on as long as it has when i started.

This is so anoying cause most of the time they do this the kid is in the path of on comming cars! I have scolded parents for doing this. What do you think? Am I over reacting?

I d'know common sense tells me to get my kid in first then the groceries!

I am always arguing with the Kid's about these issues and they keep telling me what their mates have. I believe they are exagerating and would like to check with other parents.

Well you see he had a girlfriend and he is really hurt by it and all i could do was hold him laswt night when he came here and i told him that he needs to be strong and that i will always behere for him..... I have this husband who lost his job of 7 years back in February for being late, since then he's been doing tempory construction work. our bills are soooo behind, they turned off our utilities and we switched them back on. I wake up every morning take my little boy to school then I head off to work, when I leave he stays asleep, if i start complaining he gets up pretends to go look for a job then ends up at his mothers house to sleep! he doesn't help around the house if I ask him, he complains. he will not get clothes ready for my little boy, he complains, he will not take out the trash unless he's told, he complains. I ask him to dicipline the older 2 daughters and he threatens to do it but doesnt. All he does is sleep and watch tv ALL DAY LONG!!!! what do i do? Help me in san antonio

Well i guess age does has some importance as my father is very religious n have faith but i think age does matters as when iwas small i really hated those fathers who were used 2 do filthy n unreligious things n show their kids that how religious they are n guess what my OWN FATHER turned out 2 b that one like if me or my brother is not around he will watch shameless girls n guess what i just happened 2 use his laptop n i was doing my homework until one of his saved pictures showed up!! there were of nked girls n u know what i meant like girls in bras , or just naked like even im feeling shameful plz dont consider me like my father as i have never watched such shameless images plz i feel like im filthy plz HELP ME!!! thank u

My cousin has a 10 year old. He hears things at school and on tv, she says. She says she is more concerned about him being overweight but she doesn't know how to approach him.
She says she thinks he knows some because he stays in the bathroom and his bedroom a lot longer than usual. She has told me that she knows he gets teased at school about his weight and other boys talk to him about sex.

Now, all of a sudden he is calling all the time. He always wants three ways. I don't know how to approach this situation. The last time I talked to him about his calling habbits and told him not to call so much it's too expensive, he stopped calling all together. We gave him an inch last weekend because his girlfriend was going into rehab and he wouldn't be able to talk to her for a month, so we let him call four times in a row to talk to her. Now, he is calling almost everyday. Anyone else have family in prison, how do you deal with someone in prison? They seem to be very touchy and easily offended. My husband is afraid to say much to him anymore, so I am stuck dealing with this. We want to talk to him, the calls are adding up though. Help. I know he is in prison, but why does he have to make us feel bad about it?

I know some people are trying to help but all they see is the negativity: diabetes, heart failure, no friends, bullied, teased, lonely, ugly, no one will love them, they stink, not good at sports, etc.
They should tell about some of the good things about them being heavy, just to give them some self-esteem.
I've seen some beautiful overweight children that were not teased all the time, had many friends, became successful and became parents.
All they hear is lose weight to become happy and popular and good-looking.
I wish there was a job where I could help overweight children with their self-esteem and body image. To see there life in a more positive light. I would like to volunteer but that doesn't pay the bills after a while. Does anyone know where there are any jobs like this? I would appreciate it.

We've been dating for so long now like 7 years and Im 21 now, but anyway he wants to get married and so he told his parents about it... his dad was happy for him on the other hand his mom was very dissapointed,, she said she thought I was a phase and that he should stick with his race, he told me about it I was hurt cause all these years I always thought she was nice, but she says she wont have anything to do with him if he marries me.. we still intend to get married, but I dont want to ruin their relationship.. you know..
Anyway I went to his parents house the other night and she called me all kinds of mutts asking how did I feel growing up mixed.. I told her my childhood was fine... she was like she didnt want any mixed grandkids and she wouldnt even own up to them.. that hurt so so bad her husband got fed up with her and we left together he told me hed be at the wedding regardless

She has 2 sisters and 1 brother, and the will is split between them. I have inherited a decent amount of money - so the two of us should be ok. But she is a devoted and caring daughter. Her siblings are all in their late 50's and unmarried. My wife and I have been happily married for 22 years and have one child who is in college.

Well my friend had the abusive parents...and hes trying to move out of home due to his family conflicts...and so I told him your gunna have to move out of home without your parents callign the cops on you. You're gunna have to move out legally without ur parents stopping you. So I was jsut wondering at what age can you move out of home without your parents stopping you and calling the cops?

I was adopted when I was 3. Don't have any information about my birth parents. Adoptive mom ripped up papers and will not help. My adoptive father molested me for 10 years. My mom blames me. She still talks to him. And tried to take my children around him.. at which time I cut off all contact. I just can't understand why she still wants him in her life and I am the bad person. She has threatened to call HRS on me because I will not let her see my kids.. I feel like I am just protecting them. She acts like I should forgive him and move on. I just can't do that. Can anyone relate? Why is she always against me and always on his side? When I first told the authorities I was 16 she even made me go back and say that I lied.

I remembered when Barbie dolls were controversial for creating anegative image of women but what do you think about these bratz dolls? They have big heads and tiny bodys dressed scantily clad. The faces are painted with make up and all they wear are belly button clothes. Even the babies have tube tops on, make up, and 'bling;. I'm not a square but I don't think thats the type of image you should be giving your children. Does anyone else agree?

My family has a lot of money.

Me and my wife make decent money, and we don’t ask or borrow money from my family.

We are middle class and work our butts off for what we have.

My family have been real jerks to us, but I am afraid of making them upset because they might cut me out of the inheritance.

So I go along with all their family get togethers and take a lot of the guilt trips from my grandma, hoping one day I will be able to provide more for my family because of an inheiritance.

I know it sounds greedy of me, but my grandma is getting older and she has me in her will.

If I make the family mad, they might have her cut me out.

And I was going to use the inheritance money to pay for a private education and college for my future children.

If they cut me out I may not be able to give my children a good education because the schools are horrible where I live.

Am I bad person for feeling this way?
