Geneology Questions?

Would anyone know where I could get info on my mothers side of the family. All her family is supposidly in Japan and being here in the united states, I thought it would be very difficult. I have looked up her maiden name by using a general google search, but discovered nothing.

Look in the phone book for your local LDS (Mormon) church and call and ask when their family history center will be open. If you have no intrest in the mormon church, it doesn't matter but they have hudge data base with this sort of info and all kinds of help
