i am in the same situation as you. i was raised by a wonderful man who i consider my father even though his blood doesnt run through me. when i first found out that my dad wasnt my dad i was devestated. i did want to meet my biological father and find out about my heritage. i hired a private eye to find him because he lived in irelan and all i know was his name. he turned out to be a complete a** and that really hurt if u do go looking be ready for rejection because some men just don't care.

My youngest son will be like you. His bio father is black, but his father who is raising him (from 4 months old) is white. I only hope it doesn't cause him any problems in the future. He knows him as "Dad" like my other kids. I think it is worse when a child is brought up knowing both "fathers", because it confuses them and often the child ends up in a psychological battle between the parents. It seems like you turned out fine. I will let him know who his real father is when he is old enough and asks me.

I was raised by an abusive alcoholic because my "father" walked as soon as my mom said "I'm pregnant" I was 24 when we met. His wife was stuck-up, my 1/2 bros & sis's weren't that welcoming & the bastard didn't even apologise for walkin' out. We met once more for 1 day. Haven't talked to him for years. He's probably dead & I do not care!

I don't know nor have I ever known my birth mother or father. Sometimes I wonder why. I even miss them sometimes, even though I've never seen them.
I'd like to meet them but I won't. I have no idea of who they are. So yes, I do understand what it's like. I have no idea of my heritage.

My stepdad has been my "Dad" for 35 yrs. I've never met my bio father and have never had the need or desire to do so. I do know that he is German and Irish on his father's side and Native American on his mother's side.
