Our son is a Marine serving in Iraq, and has about a month left. He is horribly home sick and losing his motivation. I'd like to start sending him words of encouragement to help boost his moral. Thank you in advance for your positive comments, and to those who wish to leave negative ones, it's just a shame you live in this country....

Do u agree that there is no need to choose a name for babies...?
we can call them by number and when they grow up , they can choose names themselves.

I have witnessed many corrupt things going on in the public school systems...and there is no one trying to help the children. The biggest reason for this is that no one is believing the childrens complaints! I do not know about you but I think that I would believe my child anyday over their teacher! (over understandable things, of course.) What can we do to stop this? How can we force the principals and other members of the faculty to take our children seriously? Many things went ignored when I was still in school, including, drug deals with teachers, public humiliation by teachers (forcing children to wear orange jumpsuits!), hidden cameras in the bathrooms, sexual predators among the faculty...and so many others...how can we change this so that schools will be better for the generations to come?

I mean any kind of gifts, but especially the ones with no price tag, such as a relative taking you fishing and teaching you how to fish.

My favorite gifts are:
1. My father reading aloud to us in the evening, because it gave us a love of books, and inquiring minds.
2. A book (Black Beauty) that my Grandma gave me when I was five; she had received it for Christmas in 1904. She wrote my name in it, too, underneath the original inscription.
3. Art supplies, because it gave me a chance to experiment with drawing and painting, and begin a passion for creativity.

He wanted me to buy him more Air force ones which cost about $100 dollars. (I"m his mother). But its not the cost as much as it is that he doesn't apply himself in school. He'll be a junior and does more often than not bring home D's and F's. He's a bright boy and he is lazy. He doesn't do homework and if he did all of it he would at least pull C's in school. So I told him he has to work and earn his money for $100 gym shoes that he will no longer be able to fit in 4 months or that he won't want because he wants new ones. The lie he told was to make them feel sorry for him and his grandfather fell for it and gave him $100. So this child of mine bought a pair of clear air force ones. I'm going to pick him up from grandmas and I'm going to confront him in front of grandma since he told me over the phone that he didn't tell his grandma that. Should I really cut up his air force ones (he already has two pair-black and white ones) or should I make him give those shoes back to grandpa?

I was in Charlotte, NC (Mecklenburg) for a week and I loved it. The homes were in sub communities at a reasonable price. In comparison to NYC the pace was much slower and the people just seem genuine. I work in the financial services industry and I feel confidant that finding a job in my field would not be a problem. My wife is in the process of finishing her LPN program. However, before making any hasty moves I would like to know what am I to expect if I decide to move there. After all I have three kids (ages 5, 8, 10) and would like some feed back on how are the schools in Mecklenburg? What area would be a good place to live? How are the race relations (I am Haitian-American)? And what are the drawbacks of leaving a city like New York to go to North Carolina? Thanks for your response!

My daughter just started attending a high school this year, which is much bigger than her school that she went to for grades k-8. She talks back to me after every word I say now, she stays in her room on the phone, and cries so much now. I have tried to talk to her but she says she won't tell me, and even if she did have a problem that she could fix it. I mean we had issues and dealings like this before she went to the bigger school but not to this degree. Why is she so unhappy?

I'm really trying to help a friend of mine.
She's always moody in class. Recently i asked her about it and she spilled everything. She has this really complicated family problem. And her parents are not understanding in any way. They always insult and mock her in front of relatives like uncles and aunts. They dont trust her and always look down on her at every angle. She said she feels so lost and stressed out at home. I really want to help her with that, but how can i?
other problem, she has a cousin who's twice her age living in the same house as she is (huge family). he has this lust of touching her. my friend tried to defend herself but he's too strong for her. recently he got drunked, grabbed her arm and asked "can i f*ck you?" which totally freak my friend out. i advised her to blurt it out to her parents, but she fears it might create another family problem since her parents hardly trust her. and that guy is sort of like a body guard of the family when her dad is not around.
