I know about the use of wetting agents added to water to fight fires and they are expensive. I also know of something new being tried. Anyone out there know about an organic substance being tried?

February 1st 2007, from 7:55pm to 8:00pm
Urgent: Action for global energy saving
February 1st 2007, be part of the largest citizen mobilisation against global warming.
This is Alliance pour la Planète (a group of several environemental associations)'s simple plea to every one of us all over the globe, a five-minute break for the Earth: everybody turns off all lights on February 1st, from 7:55pm to 8:00pm at their local time. This is not only to save 5 minutes of electricity on that day, but also to grab the attention of other citizens and of the media and inform them about waste of energy and why it is important to take action. 5 minutes for our planet; it's not that big of a deal, it's free, and it will show your politicians that the environement is still something that needs to be discussed.

Sulfur Hexafluoride is an extremely potent Greenhouse Gas which is 22,000 times more potent than CO2.

Should we setup a large manufacturing plant for the express purpose of releasing Sulfur Hexafluoride in the atmosphere and therefore accelerate global warming ?

Imagine, no more winter, capacity to grow crops even at the poles, New York would be like Venice and you could row your boat to work.

People are so scared and fussy about Global Warming, but back at the time of Dinosaurs, the earth was much warmer than it is today, so warm in fact that there was NO ice caps at the pole nor at mountain tops. There was no ice on earth period. That did not stop life from evolving and thriving.

If my landlord was willing to do one thing to make my house more energy efficient (fat chance), what would be the best way?

I am thinking about things like a more efficent boiler, double glading, better loft insulation.etc.

What could I do to make it more engergy efficent? Bearing in mind that due to my disability whatever this was I would have to get someone in to do it for me.

Specifically, where would larvae be more commonly found? Or, does it depend on the particular dragonfly species? A reliable source would be helpful, but an informed general answer is ok. Thanks

A planned seventh grade showing in Washington state of Al Gore's film on global warming has kicked up a major fuss.

The Oscar-nominated documentary "An Inconvenient Truth" was to have been shown at a school science class in Federal Way, Wash., a Seattle suburb, until one of the children's fathers angrily attacked the idea and got its showing temporarily scrubbed for the entire district.

Frosty E. Hardiman, father of seven and an evangelical Christian, objected to the film, he said, because it blamed the United States for global warming. He says he believes it to be, instead, "one of the signs" of Jesus' imminent return, The Washington Post said.

Hardiman succeeded in convincing the school board into banning the film for the district's 22,500 students, though the ban has been lifted, subject to rigorous conditions, after board members were sent thousands of e-mail messages and phone calls, the Post said.

The earth has been warming and cooling for billions upon billions of years, and there is no scientific evidence to support we could effect it if we wanted to. Ultimately humans have the same effect on global warming as a single gnat would have to drain an elephant of blood.

Why can't we have a national law that has all schools recycling and why don't we put it on tv everyday. This will increase recycling by so much and help the planet in the end. Is this not a logical idea?

What can the councils of the UK do to ensure more effecient recycling? In my area the council relies completely on householders sorting their own waste, surely this can never be 100% effective. Once we have done our bit, what can be done to make it better?

Why do people think that current predictions of climate change is natural? Ice core data clearly shows temperature is linked to carbon dioxide concentrations:
http://www.noe21.org/dvd2/Global%20Warming%20FAQ%20-%A0%20temperature.htm

Ice age maximums occur with 170 part per million (ppm) CO2. Interglacial maximums (warm periods) occur with 270ppm. We have been coming out of an ice-age for the past 10,000 years and we would expect CO2 to be ~270ppm. We have increased the global carbon dioxide to 378ppm in the past 200years. So my questions are:
"How do you explain the extra CO2 if not due to humans?" and "How confident are you that temperature will not rise significantly in response to the largest CO2 concentration in the past 400,000 years?"

1) Railway transportation of deadly nuclear waste.
2) The seepage of hidden stashes of deadly nuclear waste into our oceans and groundwater.
3) Global climate change.
4) Industrial pollution of our air and water.
5) The rape of our rainforests.
6) Endangered species.

I know that there are a lot more, but I want to ask about these six only. If you have some that you feel are more important, go ahead and offer them. In either case, you will notice that man is pretty much bringing about his own destruction! Thanks for your opinions.
