To escape what? You have nothing to worry about if you live in a over sea level area, And even if you do live in Places near up there, there's really nothing to escape, the ocean water will only rise a few feet, and it's not IF the polar ice caps melt, it's WHEN they melt, they're already melting a lot of meters a day (about a football field each day) and they say by 2020 , in the summer time we'll have an iceless northpole, Polar bears and other creatures up there will have nowhere to go, unless they can quickly adapt to the new warmer environment, which will cause them to be extinct. Is it a cause of global warming? YES, DUH, What causes it? I have no clue, I'm not ganna sit here and act like I know it all because nobody can be 100 percent sure why, Mother Earth could just be cleaning itself up going it its cycles, or it could be mostly our fault. W/e it is, there's not much anyone can do to stop it,It's probably too late for that. But anyways, even if we were in danger of the melting icecaps, we would still have the whole southern atmosphere that we can "escape" to.

Why are some people so stupid to answer a question that they can't even come close to knowing?
Or, better yet, why do they let a movie they have seen influence everything they think about a subject. I realize that "Waterworld" was a terrible movie, but surely it didn't rot all of your brain cells.
If all ice on Greenland melted, seas rise 6-7 meters
If all ice on Greenland and Antarctica melt, 70-75 meters
Given the most extreme case of all ice on earth melting, the seas would rise no more than 250 feet above present sea level. Yes, that would be traumatic if it occurred, but we are talking about most of antarctica having to increase by more than 50 deg C. just to get most of it to melt.
Before you answer something, think if you really know the answer or have some valid reference to back it up. Otherwise, you just look foolish and continue to provide ammunition for those against global warming to use against you.

From the National Science Foundation:
"The essence of Antarctica is glacial ice cover. The ice, which has accumulated over millions of years, is up to 3 miles deep and covers about 5.3 million square miles, or about 97.6 percent of the continent. This volume of ice amounts to about 6 million cubic miles — if it were returned to the oceans, it would raise global sea level about 200 feet."
OK, That takes care of the South Pole, but what about the North Pole? We can assume that North polar ice rises to the same elevation as South polar ice, but we would want to double the volume to compensate for no supporting land mass. Using this reasoning, if both ice caps melted the oceans would probably rise no more than 600 feet. All of our coastal cities, of course, would disappear.

THere will be no place to escape. The polar ice caps have enough water to cover the earth a couple times over. We'd have to move off this planet or move into a lot of arks

Nowhere is going to be good.
Global warming doesn't just mean we get warmer. Coastal flooding will take place slowly, but another big damage will be damage to agriculture due to changing patterns of precipitation and temperature. And the structures destroyed by coastal flooding will have to be replaced. Coping with all this will cost huge amounts of money.
So, wherever you live, your standard of living will go down. There's no escaping this, we have to fix it.
