Why can't we have a national law that has all schools recycling and why don't we put it on tv everyday. This will increase recycling by so much and help the planet in the end. Is this not a logical idea?

I like the idea of a national law and also I would like to add that if the communities and local government were forced to create these programs for each town then the school would have to follow the law as well. Then not only the schools but businesses and homes around would also be required too do this as well. In some states you can exchange soda bottles for a nickle. I like that idea too because that would keep the roadside looking cleaner by people not throwing them out the window. I wish all states would adopt this.

Don't know where you live but recycling is encouraged in a very big way here (Ontario, Canada). We even have a green recycle program where you put your kitchen waste & it gets picked up every week. The schools in our area have been recycling for years.

Some people are just lazy however or just don't care.

We talked to our tour guide in Belize when we were there and he said that with some countries it's a lack of education, corrupt government officials, lack of funds &/or facilities. He would like to see a program in place there as the garbage collects on the beaches and road sides. It all takes money though & often countries just don't have it. Wouldn't it be nice if all those mega-millionaires in the world put some of it towards the planet instead of just lining their pockets.

I'm with ya on that.
I think with anything that would make sense it would probably cost too much and maybe not be profitable enough for someone.

It's always about money and greed. Someone should 'bite the bullet' at some point and do things for the 'greater good' and not for the benefit of the wallet.

We'll never have everyone do anything all together but who cares about people who are slugs. We'll leave them in our dust. How about instead of just talking about this we make it happen ourselves?

We can set up a citizens (membership) advocacy organization and promote this. Why wait for someone else to take action when we can move forward ourselves. Get back to me and let me know what ideas you have. Let's brainstorm first and take steps to put this into action.
