Why wont America make an effort to reduce its global emissions before it's too late and we are all dead?

I accept many other countries produce pollution but america is by far the greatest polluter in the 1st world. With climate change the major problem of this century is it not time for Americans to maybe not deive a stupidly large vehicle that consumes silly fuel. I am not an environmentalist weirod just have common sense. A hummer for one person is stupid

Do dead trees give us oxygen?

My dad has a lot of dead trees in his backyard and he wants to cut them down. I hate how many trees that are being cut down to build houses because we are losing so much oxygen. (I am very potective of the environment.) My dad said that he would not cut any of the dead trees down if we would lose oxygen.So would we lose any?

What process is used to remove chemicals from drinking water?

I live in the City of Milwaukee. I read that treated wastewater is dumped into Lake Michigan which is also the city's drinking water supply. Many harmful chemicals such as Drano go down people's drains. How are chemicals like this removed from wastewater and/or drinking water?

Okay. I have a long question that will take some explaining to do. I found from (cont'd in details)?

testing the pH level of swamp water is 6.0. From tap water, 7.0. Now I need to write if swamp water is good or bad for ecological or potability (drinkable) reasons. The same for tap water. Can someone tell me because now I'm totally confused. I asked a similar question before and someone gave me a website. It told me that 6.0 is high alkalinity. I found out that 6.0 is acid not alkaline. So now I'm really mixed up. I need the answer by today. Please guys, I need your help
