My dad has a lot of dead trees in his backyard and he wants to cut them down. I hate how many trees that are being cut down to build houses because we are losing so much oxygen. (I am very potective of the environment.) My dad said that he would not cut any of the dead trees down if we would lose oxygen. So would we lose any?

NO, dead trees do not provide oxygen. How about you asking your dad to plant (with you) a live tree for every dead tree he
cuts down?

Dead trees will only use oxygen. As the bugs and beetles eat the tree or if it is burned it will consume oxygen. Trees are good things to have around you but they should be live ones. If you clear away the dead stuff then you can plant new trees to make oxygen.

Alive trees convert CO2 into oxygen during photosythesis. when trees die they need to be broken down. The Co2 in trees is broken down releasing it back into the atmosphere.

So no dead trees do not give us oxygen they actually use it but thats part of nature... Now if these trees have just recently died, and are not rotten they can be used as lumber as trees in lumber still store the carbon its when the dead trees or lumber starts to rot is the problem

I hope this helps

Once the trees are dead they will not help with the oxygen. They will start to oxidize very shortly cut down or not. It is all plants that take in CO2 and give us back oxygen. Study Photosynthesis and plants . Get more plants started soon.

Dead Trees do not give oxygen and as they decompose the actually use oxygen in the process. However they are important for the environment as they provide habitat for animals and birds and, when lying on the ground, provide erosion protection. They breakdown and provide organic matter for new soil.

If the trees are really dead, they won't give us any more oxygen. Oxygen is a product of photosynthesis that happens in live cells.

If you have dead trees in a forest, the dead trees are important habitat for certain birds, mammals, insects, reptiles, amphibians, ...

No in fact as the wind erodes the tree, it will just cause particulate matter to add to the visible pollution and will cause a fire hazard. Fire, as you know, causes a great deal of pollution both by the smoke and by the worse smoke mixed with firefighting chemicals.
