Picnic at Hanging Rock is an Australian movie. Some think it's a true story but you can bet it's fiction. But what I'm intrigued about is this, I have not read the novel and I don't know if it's mentioned in the novel, but one of the girls spoke of a cloud only it was red, she didn't say it was a cloud from sunset or she would have said sunset. It implied she saw it someplace on the mountain.
So, is there anything in real life (however rare or strange) which looks like a red cloud.

Does global warming concern you? I am from Southeast Michigan and we have had unseasonably warm weather here. The forecast says it will continue to be in th 40's all week. Yesterday it was over 50. What is it like where you are? To what do you attribute this strange weather pattern?

What serious alternatives are there to fossil fuel. Is there a major new energy solution some where on the horizon that will stop fossil fuel burning?

Is so what type of alternative is it? and how long before we make the change over?

Has anyone got any links to this new alternative

I've been hearing a lot of stories about reusing the bottles. Which I do frequentlly. I refill mine from the water cooler at work. One story was how Sheryl Crowe thinks that is how she got her breast cancer. I've heard something to the effect like, if you keep it in your car and it gets warm, something about chemicals in the plastic. Anyway, does anyone know what the scoop is and is there harm in refilling used bottles?

Al Gore (in "An Inconvenient Truth) said that global warming would increase the strength and number of hurricanes, but this year we saw very few, weak, hurricanes.
When a scientific theory makes a prediction and the prediction fails, we say the theory is wrong. Why then are scientists not willing to state that the theory of global warming is therefore wrong?
Pride? Bias? Peer pressure? Fear?

It is the size of a grain of rice, has a white middle section with black horizontal stripes. It's head is pointy and dark red and its end part is the same shape but black. I find these bugs in my infant daughters crib. Any ideas what this is, how I can get rid of them or where I can find out about bugs?

I mean, like, every summer the ozone gets so bad they have these Ozone Alert days where you aren't supposed to mow the lawn or fill up the SUV with gas. Then on the other hand, people have been pitching fits for 20 years about the way freon destroys ozone in the upper atmosphere. I'm confused.

Some people don't like the light they produce, but the technology has been improving, and I find the Sylvania "soft white" compact fluorescent light bulb, which has a color temperature of 3000K, produces a clean white light comparable to halogen incandescent light bulbs. A 13 watt CFL produces as much light as a 60 watt incandescent, so it costs less to operate and saves energy, reducing carbon dioxide emissions at power plants.

Doesn't the ice in the water, which is now melting due to global warming, displace an equal amount of water frozen as in melted liquid form? What is causing the sea level to rise so rapidly?

Please tell me some of your thoughts on how Earth might end. I have provided some of my own.
1. A third world war will destroy the Earth probably with a large nuclear explosion.
2. The Earth will continue to become hotter and life will not be able to live.
3. In about 8 billion years the sun will explode causing nuclear radiation to flood the Earth killing life.

If you disagre with any of my ideas please tell me and explain why. Please tell me your ideas about how the Earth might end.

When someone smokes a cigarette or a smokestack puffs out large amounts of smoke, where does it all go? Where does it go when we can't see it in the air anymore? Just curious.
