Humans have the potential to really screw up this planet so it becomes difficult for most organisms to survive, but I really don't think we are so powerful as to bring earth to an end. Something will survive...Probably us and some roaches.
Some large asteroid hitting earth-- that's something that can destroy this planet-- but even then, we probably will find a way to nudge it out of the way.
Perhaps geologic instability (volcanic eruptions, toxic fumes, ashes blocking the sun...) and subsequent ice age... that might do us in. But these have happened in the past, and some organisms made it through.
Life is unbelievably resilient. We got stuff growing hot acid pools! Earth will change, but it will be inherited by different organisms. As long as we have some sort of an atmosphere, water and sun.
By the way, the sun's temperature will increase and dry this planet out to a crisp before our sun will go red giant on us.
Oh wait! I thought of something! If we lose our magnetic field! That would mean trouble for most life on earth because our magnetic field shields us from solar wind. And the solar wind will eventually strip away our atmosphere. This will happen if the core cools down. Some scientists think this is what happened to Mars. Our core is bound to cool down eventually. Perhaps in few billion years...

I have read that the earth will not "end"; and that man is vain to think we can wipe out our planet. Life will continue to change because of natural earth cycles and disasters. Perhaps there will be a disease that could kill off man. Perhaps we will destroy many forms of life here; but life will regrow or evolve and move on. But I think, even if we were to have another ice age, there will be men that survive on earth. I think there is evidence of ancient civilizations that were not affected by the last ice age. It is difficult to find people who believe this. It does not tie in with the scientific and religious histories we are taught.

You mean the end of humanity...
Humans cannot destroy the Earth.
They can only destroy themselve through sheer suicide.
By destroying their environment... they are destroying their very own life support. Once we are all dead... the planet will only take a couple of hundred years to fully recover and be brand new.
Even if you did nuke it... it would fully recover within a thousand year.
The planet does not care what you do to it... because it has nature on its side to maintain the balance.
For instance... if we don't nuke ourselve... and lets say that through a miracle... we manage to fix the environment... it will come a time when millions of us will die each year through famines as we won't be able to produce enough food for our ever growing population.
We will have 9 billion people by 2040 - 13 billion by 2080.

The earth will end on April 1, 5,000,000,147 AD when the sun, having run out of hydrogen at its core, goes red giant and eats the earth. Don't wait up.

The earth, or LIFE on earth? Or HUMAN LIFE on earth? Please clarify. Because to answer your question directly, as written, the EARTH will end when our sun goes supernova.
Every species eventually goes extinct, so humans won't be around forever... They'll die out long before the sun consumes the planet. The terminating event will probably be a large asteroid strike, or global thermonuclear war.

Kind of 3. but the sun will not explode, it will expand and become a red giant until it consumes the earth, then the sun will recede until it is a whit dwarf.

Assuming we are actually not hit via an excellent asteroid or comet, there are countless organic catastrophes in our destiny. First, our sunlight is getting warmer, it somewhat is been as a results of fact it became born. It gets warmer via approximately 30% each and every billion years. In yet another billion years or so it somewhat is going to be too warm for existence in the worldwide. 2d, our finished galaxy is on a collision direction with one in each and every of our neighbor galaxies, Andromeda. we can collide in approximately 3 billion years that would desire to bring about a famous individual or black hollow colliding with our sunlight which might spell the top for us. third, our sunlight will replace right into a purple massive engulfing the orbits of mercury Venus and earth in approximately 5 billion years, this could fry what's left of our planet. of direction, we can all be long long handed via then, and who knows if there would additionally be human beings from now on at that evaluate time. we would basically poison ourselves long in the previous any of those organic catastrophes hit. happy new years!
