what does the word "emissions" in the passage mean?

Today, car companines face difficult decisions. federal clean air laws require a certain number of vehicles produced each year to have low emissions. what they have created is the hybrid gass/electric engine.

in the passage, the emissions that come from automobiles are

Using magnets is a real source of energy, I've seen it with my own two eyes. As for gravity energy I saw a documentry on it once and it was about ten years ago. After that nothing more did I find.

This week I got my annual electricity bill and report. It said that I consumed 5400kwh of power in 2006. I would like to know if it's possible to make your own electricity or at least save it from somewhere. Because I think my electricity bill is TOO big for my budget, help me to save ok!
