i'm doing a science fair project and i cant seem to find oput why it changes color i think it's because of the rooots or somthing but i want tyo be sure! thanks pleeeeeeezzzz help!!!!!!

your right the roots feed off the water and what ever colour u use it will turn cuz it starts at the root.Good luck n hope u win.

Normally, the plant's "xylem" would transfer the water threw the plant, but when you give it a color, the plant will basically seperate the dye from the water and uses the H20 and doesn't use the dye, pretty much distributing the plant with dye, and coloring the plant.

Well, stems suck up the water along with the dyes in the water and Viola! color change.

The roots absorb the coloured water, and it travels up the stem to all parts of the plant, thus changing the colour. (Is it osmosis?)
