Polar bears hunt for seals by sitting at the edge of an ice floe for hours waiting for a seal to surface, or by sitting at the edge of a hole in the ice waiting for a seal. There are no holes in the ice in Antarctica, for the ice there rests on solid rock. In the Arctic, the ice floats on water. (That is why the melting of the Arctic ice does not raise the sea level, but melting of Antarctic ice does.)

Did you mean take the bears to the Antarctic and THEN FEED THEM, as Barks-At-Parrots seems to think?

I have been wondering this, its probably their only long term survival hope, as there is no land at the north pole. Trouble is, they time their births to suit the seasons, hibernate, etc. all based on where they are.
To move them to the south pole would reverse the seasons.
Also, they hunt off sea ice, as the world warms up, would this be available in the Antarctic?
I would like to see it tried.

Undoubtedly they would survive in Antarctica. I fear the penguins would not be so lucky though. It took penguins millions of years to lose the ability to fly - I doubt they could relearn just because they had a polar bear charging at them!

Theres an american base at the south pole, so theres plenty of meat, so long as they keep topping it up.
