A watershed is not a river or creek. It is a land area which has water courses, all draining in the same direction. Streams may, or may not be large enough to support fish.

Answer above mine is correct. Also, some of my students always think that a watershed is a building (a shed) which it definitely is not. A watershed is a land area that drains into a particular stream, lake, or other body of water. Think of a raindrop falling on the land and draining off into a stream. That raindrop fell in the watershed. What if I spill a chemical in my driveway? What body of water will that chemical eventually reach? My driveway is in that body of water's watershed.
