Okay, so the ice has melted, and they can't get across to the seals- but if the ice melts, surely it'll be too warm for the seals where they were, and they'll go closer to the shore so the bears can get them... what am I missing here?

To questions on, for instance global warming, you get a whole lot of different answers from the glib/humorous to the earnest/detailed. I enjoy the answers that make me laugh and appreciate those from folk who know something about the subject but that leaves a lot from folk who - whilst they may be very nice people - have some scarily uninformed views. Everyone has a right to speak - and that's to be encouraged - but there's a lot of complete nonsense written in this science category.

and what is the deal with electric cars surely if anything they pollute more than a normal car due to the electricity generation and the dumping of the used batteries. Further why do people focus so much on the car as harmful to the planet when it is responsible for very little of the total pollution.

I have recently had first hand experience of a NGO in Indonesia (community guidelines do not allow me to name them unfortunately) that exploited a sick baby, that later died, by taking it on demonstrations, persuading the parents not to accept the free medical help offered in order to boost its international profile to secure funds from USAID and the Norwegian government.

They also only fight multinational companies in developing countries, even when these companies are knowingly innocent of any wrong doing confirmed by various international bodies, rather than confronting actual local perpetrators of wrong doings as this does not get them any international coverage- thus future funding.

Can we really trust them when their number one objective is to secure funding at all costs?

I've often heard that every drop of water on Earth has at one time passed thru some form of living creature, meaning our water here today is the same as it was since the Earth's beginning. Is this just myth or can a planet's water evaporate away?
