People first left the farms for the city because of work and play.
Then,
communities built freeways to make the commute faster and easy, automobiles became more affordable and housing developments lured people out of the city again.

Now, people are moving back again because of the high cost of running a car and the time to commute, being nearer work, nicer accomodations coming available in the city.
