Its a bunch of garbage. Yes there is global warming, yes there is a hole in the o-zone layer, but no it is not because of anything we can controle.

O-Zone is O2 - made when Ultra violet light breaks up oxygen and the molecules rebond together. This happens as long as ultraviolet light passes through our atmosphere. As long as we have a sun (which produces the ultraviolet rays) we will have O-zone being produced.

Where is the hole in the Ozone? Anyone know? It is over Antarctica, where (suprise surprise) there is no sun for 1/2 of the year. This lack of sun is what causes the hole in the ozone layer over antarctica not any of the other crap that everyone likes to blame. When did the hole begin? was it when we started using cars and aeresol cans? NO! it was billions of years ago, which is why it is warmer today than during the ice age.

Does this mean that the planet will eventually burn up? probably not, we can already create ultroviolet light. It is only a matter of time before we find a way to create our own O2 in quantities enough to patch the hole over antarctica.

Who knows, when our sun burns out we may even have space travel in large enough ships and be able to move to another planet. Sounds like science fiction, but so did flying an airplane only a few hundred years ago... just think what could happen in a few THOUSAND more years. too bad we wont be around.

I dont agree with Roger because due to great emission of gas the layer could not 'recovery' fast enough to get back to normal.

When we talk about global warming, we talk about the 'greenhouse effect' not solely ozone layer. The problem is that man is adding to and changing the levels of the gases responsible for the greenhouse effect and is therefore enhancing this warming. All scientists agree that the world is warming- the debate is centred on how much is due to human activity have drawn cycnism from anti-gloabl warming.

In order to try and predict possible consequences of this warming for the future, research institutes use climate modelling and satellite known as Cryosat to simulate the climate and oceans over many decades. When is comes to climate change, politicians and the media have treated us like kids.

Getting these points across may be just as important as telling people the basics of the science if we are to make people aware the global is actually warming up day by day but at slow pace.

Ignore the post two up by Roger G

The ozone hole is due to release of CFC (chlorofluorocarbons) from fridges and deodorant

Global warming is due to release of CO2.
Two different process that he has got muddled

Global warming is happening. It happened in the past but at a much slower rate. There is a lot more energy in the atmosphere and we are seeing a lot more hazards occurring. Look at hurricanes hitting SE USA. The most named storms of anyone year and Katrina was not the biggest only the most damaging. On its own this stat is maybe coincidence but if look around the globe the same thing is occurring.

It is happening and head in the sand won't help.

Although global warming seems to be caused by the effects of man, I often wonder if it's more natural than we think. If we had an ice-age a few thousand years ago, who's to say that the earth isn't still warming in an ongoing cycle. I do think that we are to blame, but maybe not 100 %.

Simple logic tells you it's going to happen under present circumstances no matter what you happen to believe.

Burning fossil fuel releases carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Deforestation removes the plant life that is the primary consumer of CO2. Therefore, more and more CO2 will accumulate in the atmosphere, causing global warming and the death of mankind.

Burning fossil fuel and deforestation aren't natural processes. These are man-made. We just have to stop pulling the trigger on this loaded bun before it goes off (some say it's too late, the cycle mentioned above is past its tipping point and is irreversible- that's what we should be debating!).

It is not possible to prove that it is due to CO2. Water vapour is 77 times greater a green house gas. I think the scientist are not taking in the consideration that as we burn all this fuel we are releasing heat. Just having so many humans on the planet releases more heat. Global warming is happening it has happen time and time again on the earth and it will happen again it does not matter what. So, build your house on a rock so to speak. The weather is going to get more and more wild. Hold on to your hats!!!!

Not gonna happen, these so called "scientists" have no real proof or evidence of it happening exept maybe Venus 1/4 of an AU away from us!

It is difficult to estimate whether global warming is more to do with human activity or with unrelated factors. At least this is what a friend of mine who did his Masters in ecology in Oxford is telling me.

Why the hell do we keep procreating knowing that the globe is going to burn up? Why would we do nothing about it and make children who will burn or have their own children or grandchildren who will burn?

In truth though it can only be slowed, not stopped, it is another biblical prophesy in the works to be fulfilled.

It's real, and it is caused by humankind's burning of fossil fuels, specifically cars, jets, trucks
