They, like all spiders, catch insects. Assuming you are talking about Daddy Long Legged Spiders and not Crane Flies?

Mine too i absolutly hate them, strait as i turn a light on i will see one fling around and they scare the **** outa me, i have to hit them with all sort to get rid of them i cant stand to touch them, some other things i really dont mind but daddy long legs dont look at that by they really frighten me, they are pointless do nothing and only last throughout September-thank god the months nearly over !!! No use whatsoever, other than to continuously test the integrity of your windows by flying into them.
The really long-legged spiders referred to by another answerer are called harvestmen.

Believe it or not spiders do not bug me as much as ants do!
I freak out when I see more than one ant in my house going about their business.
