I just bought my camera this summer and want to take some outside pictures, when it snows this winter. Where could I look for some guidelines? The temps. I would be taking pictures in would be about 20 - 30 degrees Farenheit. When I take my camera back and forth from the car or house where It's warm, what sould I put my camera in to prevent the lens fogging up, which I've heard can happen and ruin the camera. Any advice or links to useful websites would be awesome. Thanks!!

I got some good price quotes on this camera and am considering getting my wife a Leica she has 2 Nikons,Cannon, Minolta, as well as a slew of vintage cameras. All of them are 35m except for a Nikon S9 pocket camera for on the go with my kids. She always says that the Leica's are Lengendary and well I want to get her a SLR style. She is a professional photographer and worked with film most of her life and is now getting into digital. Some say that it's the same camera as the Panasonic DMC-FZ50 but I think the Leica will hold it's value more then the Panasonic. Any comments.

I have an 18-200mm tamron camera lens for my nikon D80, but the inner lens is dirty with what appears to be dust. Is there anyway to clean it myself? I'm in Iraq so there is really no way for me to get it cleaned by a pro.

So, I'm comparing two digital cameras. The only difference between the two is that one is 8 megapixels and the other is 10.1 megapixels. At that resolution, is this really a significant difference. The camera is for semi-pro level work, as well as family photos; I'm not taking pictures for posters or anything that big....

will it make any difference if you leave the camera with the fingermarks on the lens? does this mean your pictures cannot come out with great quality, as compared to when you clean it?

Under warranty my ex took her camera back to store where she purchased it. The manfunction was the flash. After almost 8 weeks store said her camera was in transit from Kodak.
I told her for any company to really make it right they should extend the warranty 8 more weeks. I know I'm not wrong to expect that. But would they? After all these companies say warranty is 1 year; not 1 year minus repair time.

im asking for a new digital camera for xmass cuz the 2 i had both were broken (screens cracked and pixilated cuz someone pressed their thumb against 1 and shatter the internal part of the screen and the second one got dropped on the floor) i want something thats small and preferable slim so i can put it in my purse or pocket but also with a tough screen so this doesnt happen again. im very careful now with who i let use my cameras!! money isnt really an option cuz my parents said pick 5 high end items so this will be one of the items.

When I say cheap I don't mean cheap quality, I would prefer walk-in stores rather than internet stores. Kodak is usually what I shoot, actually thats really all I shoot but I guess Im open to other suggestions. Thank You.

I am looking to get a digital camera (this will not be my first). I am still confused as to how many mp I should be looking for. All I do with my pctures is upload them on the computer and sometimes send them to the drug store and make 3x5 copies. I still want good pics but I just want to make sure I don't buy more than I need. Also, what should be the minimum? Thanks!

I just want to throw this in to freak everyone else out.

ISO is NOT an adjustment to the sensitivity of the sensor. A sensor can either detect photons or not. It can not vary the sensitivity to those photons.

ISO in a digital camera refers to the gain applied to the signal sent from the sensor to the processor. Think of the ISO adjustment as an analogy to a volume knob on an amplifier. Adujsting the ISO upwards boosts the signal sent from the sensor to the processor. More signal ("louder" signal, if you will) leads to digital noise as some of the signal from one individual diode jumps over to an neighbor, creating noise. Think of it as being analogous to distortion as an amplifer runs out of headroom and eventually starts to clip the signal because it can't handle it. There's your "hot" or blown pixel in high ISO settings.

I want to start using this as part of my answer when someone asks for a definition of ISO in a digital camera. What do you think of that???
