I'm going to take my camera to get developed today, but I was just wondering how much more 1 hour development for doubles is compared to waiting a few days?

It depends on the store. Look in your local advertisements for specials.

Often, there isn't any price difference at all. It will simply depend upon how busy the machine is within the store.

To get 1 hour development, the store has to have a developing and printing machine in-house. If you show up and there's no packages ahead of you in line, your stuff will be developed and printed first. However, if there are lots of packages ahead of you, the clerk may in fact tell you that 1-hour service is unavailable.

I would call ahead, because many places are getting rid of their 1-hour printing machines due to the spread of digital imaging.

As for cost--there's usually no difference, although some places will charge more, just because people are willing to pay it, even if the photos would have been 1-hour anyway. In theory, what a store could do would be to wait until the end of the day to do the non-1-hour packages. These days, there's probably less demand for developing, so there's no reason not to use 1-hour service.

From what I've seen there is no difference, but sometimes the several day order will actually be sent out which is sometimes what I would prefer since most 1-hour jobs don't have matte paper to print on, which is what I prefer.

I've recently just been uploading my pictures to Shutterfly.com and ordering prints that way and they're mailed directly to me. Have to pay for shipping, but man is it ever convenient!

It depends. I find at the chain drug stores they can be pretty cheap here in LA. But there are small shops that will do a much better job in developing with quality.

Go online to the retailer of your choice. Sometimes by creating a profile for that store you can get a free/discount offer from them...

it is WAAAAAY more.

wait if you can. You have already waited a while, you can endure the few days wait instead of wasting that money. Be smart and save. Go out to eat with what you save or buy more stuff for yourself.

depends on where you go-and how many pics are one the roll.
Best bet is to look on line at
CVS (check the paper for coupons)
Wallgreens (check the paper for coupons)
Target
Walmart
Costco (my best deal was 24 exp. file 3 prints of each and my pic on cd for 13.00 and got them in 1hour)
Sams
