Consumer Electronics - 28 October 2007

Canon DC210 camcorder.
We had a disc inside the camera which had movies and still pictures, which we hadn't taken out till it was full.

Husband went to use it yesterday and it said "unable to recognize recordable disc."

Put disc in computer and computer kept saying insert disc into drive. It was in there.
Put disc into Sony DVD system for the TV, would not read it.
Put disc into PS2 and same thing.

Put it back in the camera and it took about 2mins saying "reading disc", and then, unable to read.

Did we loose everything???
How do we get the pictures back?????

I have a Samsung digital camera - price about $300. I dropped it in sand at the beach. Now the lens will not extract (open) as it should when we turn the camera on. Can it be cleaned so that it works? What is the cost to have a digital camera cleaned/repaired? Thanks

My reasons for asking this are maybe different from typical... I've been having to use a (cheap as all hell) DVD recorder for work, transferring some materials from VHS to disc.... and it really is the most abysmal piece of dreck. Though, i'm not entirely convinced it is the recorder (though it has a few standout points that are probably an effect of being low-end, they're fairly minor) but more of a general failing of the format. Such as stopping recording entirely when hitting a minor blemish on the disc (instead of just bleeping over it), taking forever to spin up & start recording, having inconsistent recording times vs what's claimed (2hrs disc in EP mode ("x3") = 5h50??) and a whole catalogue of other annoyances that make me want to launch the thing into orbit. Vs a tape recorder that, although not super high quality, generally puts stuff on tape without murmur and gets to work within 5 seconds of inserting a cassette.

Or am I wrong? Do pricier ones work better? (hope so!)

I was interested in getting a plan with Verizon through WalMart..but since I don't have any credit yet, I would need to deposit 300$ so I was wondering if I'd sign up for the plan and buy my phone online off of the Verizon website, would I still need to put a deposit down? if so, would it still be 300$? thanks for your help

My Phone: Sony Ericsson W300i
Problem: Keeps on turning of on its own! Even when the battery is full and not even close to being dead, and when I restart it of course, it turns of on its own again! It makes me really mad! Also, the second problem is that it doesnt charge right either it will say its full, but when I unplug it... it's dead!

So anyone have the same problems? Does anybody have some soulutions? Please Help Me! :)

i've been saving up my money for awhile now and i still can't deside which console to buy. I'm leaning towards the 360 right now because of the 120 gb hard drive and halo 3 but the PS3 seems more reliable. So should I go for the 360? Ever since my camera got a bit wet, the "Print" button is lighting all the time, I can't use the zoom function, nor can I operate the menu system, or delete/scroll between the photos in the Playback Menu. Could it be possible that I need to take it to a Canon repairer, or could it be that the Print button blocks everything down? (I'm not at home, so I cannot use my transfer cable to check it if I could use all the menu functions after I have printed some images..) Thanks in advance.

I'm thinking of getting one for my nephew for Christmas. I want one that takes decent pix, but also one that's sturdy for him and that I won't feel too badly if he does break it (i.e., nothing too expensive). SD Card compatibility is a plus. The Fisher Price kid-tough camera, looks too basic for his age, and I'm reading that the Disney ones aren't very good either...
