I'm trying to make a cassette tape of my pharmacology notes so I can listen to them in the car. But I can't seem to get any of the 3 stereos/tape recorders in our house to work. I'm pressing play and record at the same time. What am I doing wrong?

look at the top of the tape the side that is plastic not the side with the tape. there should be two plastic tabs on each side. if the tabs are gone then there should be like two little holes on each side. the tabs are there so when you make a tape you can break the tabs off so you cant record over the tape any more to save what on it. if they are gone stuff little chunks of paper in them and you can record on the tape again. hope that's the problem

Hi! If this particular tape is not working on any of the recorders then the tape must be defective. Try recording on a new tape.
