Security - November 2007

My computer was going straight to the desktop upon start up, but now it goes to the login screen first. (My kids must have been messing with the settings).It doesn't require a password, I just have to click on my user account (which is the only account on the computer). How do I get it to bypass the login screen? I have Vista Home Premium. I have already done the controluserpasswords2 and gone in and set up the computer to automatically log me in, but for some reason it doesn't work! Help!

My PC gives me this message whenever I try and view hotmail, and then directs me away to an acrion calcelled page. This is quite annoying since I use hotmail for my main email address!

Does anyone know how I could renew the certificate on my PC or network? No compueter connected ton the network will access hotmail, yet I know other people can.

When I do a search, I get taken to sites other than the ones I searched for. I also get annoying pop ups, even though I have a pop up blocker, I think I have a virus or something. I do have virus protection, anti-spyware and identify theft protection etc which is updated every day (the virgin one) so why am I having so many problems and whats the most simple way of solving it? I would really appreciate any advice! I don't want to end up downloading more software which will cause more viruses, its a bit like a mine field out there!

I have utilities to clean them out but cannot you prevent them from even getting in at all? The no. 1 culprit is when i get on Yahoo, it really accounts for 90% of spy entries in my registry. Hate to disconnect altogether from Yahoo, but it so damn annoying. Slows up the system. I would like to block the suckers. Ideas and feedback?

I had some infected files that my current program Webroot Spy Sweeper did not locate! I was hijacked and couldn't do any surfing or check my email. When I ran Ewido it found the infections and my computer is running fine! Whats up with SpySweeper and should I now make Ewido my new spyware program or just leave the Webroot? SpySweeper came with my computer when I purchased it.

i looked at some sites that i regret looking at on my laptop. my laptop is school issued, so im pretty sure they can see what i look at online. i erased my cookies and history, is there anything else i can do to ensure no one finds out that i looked at bad sites????

My homepage was hijacked by http://thesafetyfiles.com, My internet service provider is bellsouth and I currently have the anti- virus, antispyware, and firewall security suite and still my internet explorer was hijacked ,I've already gone to tools, internet options and typed in the homepage address I was currently using which was aol and I still can't fix this problem I've spoken to my IP and they said I would have to take it down to BestBuy to get it cleaned up anyone who knows how to fix this problem I would appreciate if you can help me ....

Recently, my fonts style been changed..it looks a little smeared but it didn't look like it previously. But I went to internet options and then went to check the fonts, but the fonts didnt change but it does look changed though because it wasnt like this before. And when I log into myspace, people's pictures doesn't show up..just some. Can anyone PLEASE help me?? What should I do?

Am paranoid because my Norton trial has ended and i need to wait for my next paycheck to actually go buy the proper pack. Also, if you dont mind Which Norton pack do you recommend i buy? I think they have three and i know nothing about IT, so whichever is most effective for a person with limited knowledge of all the techie stuff. Thanks.

i set a Red sox background for my wallpaper,in a few weeks its gone and its all silver now.to be specific the backround is plain gray now.i do believe a virus affected it,i cleaned viruses from my laptop and try to set another wallpaper,however it did not work.and when i turn off my laptop for 3 seconds i saw the wallpaper i wanted to be set to.anyone know the problem?

okay so i've run Webroot Spy Sweeper for the fifth time today along with Nortan Anti-Virus for the second time....Nortan doesnt pick up any virus at all, while Spy Sweeper picks up the virus, Quaratine's it, and when i run the spy sweeper again, the virus is STILL being picked up. why won't it go away? its Troj/Agent-CBA and Troj/ObfLdr-Gen (highest lvl virus) most likely got it from MovieForumz.com - NEVER go there!!!

i did this one thing where i turn off the system restore, restart comp, run spy sweeper again, and then turn back on system restore (someone suggested this) but it didnt work either....

help plz :( the last time this virus came i had to totally erase my computer

k so my computer randomly sometimes even less than a minute of being on it, freezes and makes me restart it.
it has happened about 30 times now
and i think its a virus from going on peteranswers.com
but i am not sure
just how do i get rid of it?
i cant ask my dad because i have gone on myspace and hell probably find that and i am not allowed to have one. so what should i do?

So i turn on my pc and a little caution sign appears at the bottom saying i have a viruse. I know thats a lie becasue i scaned my pc several times already and i even bought Norton anti-viruses last night and it still appears. Next i open internet explorer, it stays open for about 6 seconds then closes itself on it's own. Meaning i can't go on the internet like normal people. However i am able to go on by restarting it in safe mode and by opening up the internet w/o add- ons. I do a complete scan w/Norton and finds a "tracking cookie". I delete it but it keeps coming back and it is titled "tracking cookie". I even installed adaware and it still doesn't work? Can somebody please tell me how to delete this for good!?? My last option is to call Dell, but i dont want to pay $120. Im pretty sure i got the spy ware from LimeWire, YES i learned my lesson, no need to explain about that.

I downloaded this program at the suggestion of someone on this forum. It is taking up 62,672 K of memory, slows my computer and is inefective. It doesn't show in Add/delete, and when I try to remove it by going to c\programs, it says "Cannot delete, access is denied". Can anyone out there, help me with getting this program off my computer.
